Breaking: Amed Rosario Gets Traded To The Dodgers
After two and a half years, Amed Rosario has been traded to the LA Dodgers per Ken Rosenthal.https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1684338306161561607?s=20The veteran shortstop, who slashed .262/.305/.360 with a WRC+ of 87 over the course of the 2023 season, will now reside in Chavez Ravine, as he'll likelu be in a platoon at SS for LA. Over his career in Cleveland, he amassed a .278/.314/.397 slash-line with inconsistent defense for most of his 2.5-year run with the club. Los Angeles will get a league-average bat, speed on the base paths, and a lefty killer which is something the Dodgers were sorely needing at the deadline. What it means for the Guardians in the short-term and long-term, they can finally unclog the logjam. Gabriel Arias and Tyler Freeman who have been reduced to part-time roles throughout the season, they'll now have plenty of playing time that the fans have been begging for. With Rosario out of the picture, they'll have an opportunity to duke it out and get answers for the next two months. Especially with Bryan Rocchio, who is the team's top middle infield prospect not too far behind, it's imperative to figure out what they have with the pair in question. The upside of the duo is already there on defense, (2 and 1 OAA compared to Rosario's -14) now will figure out if packing Amed's bags will create the upside the team is sorely looking for up the middle on offense on a full-time basis. The return for Rosario has now been confirmed to be Noah Syndergaard, in a move that frees up salary for Los Angeles while clearing that spot in the middle infield for Cleveland. Syndergaard has been bad-to-awful in 2023, with a 1-4 record in 55.1 IP and a 7.16 ERA. The Man They Call Thor is currently on the injured list with a blister, though he has been making rehab starts in the minors. Maybe its a reclamation project for Cleveland, maybe it just means more to get that open spot in the lineup, but the Amed Wars are officially over in Cleveland.
