Adams Re-Signed, Orakpo to be Paid a Visit
March 6, 2009Cavaliers Preview Game #61: Cavs at Celtics
March 6, 2009Well, that was fast. Escalated quickly, even.
Newly signed Mike Adams is your new starting strong safety, unless the Browns start taking swings at the free agent market. If we learned anything from the playoffs, you need to be pretty strong up the middle. Ed Reed, Brian Dawkins, Troy Polamalu. We definitely have some work to do.

Can’t wait to see Mike Adams stopping the run. Uggggg could this offseason get any more frustrating? We trade Winslow, shaun rogers wants out, we sign another blocking TE, very frustrating. Makes me sick to think what this defense is going to look like next year. They etter be praying Curry is there or that they get an awesome trade to move down for someone that really wants Crabtree, ie the Eagles. With the Cavs just playing amazingly, thinking about the Browns is just a waste of time, like what I’m doing writing this comment.
No way Mike Adams starts the year starting at safety, so I’m not really worried about it. Sean Jones was nice but he had multiple injuries and never took that next step we all were waiting for. Although I do wish Taylor Mays had declared for the draft…I’m sure we can sign a safety just as good as Jones that actually plays.
Joe…i think you summed it up pretty darn good. Frustrating. If Curry is gone (probably to KC) then i sure hope they trade down and get a ton of picks (not likely). either way, i agree with all of your points…we’ve downgraded at Safety, TE and the glaring needs of LB and D-line haven’t been nearly addressed. I understand that this wasn’t the best Free Agent class ever, but geez…
That said, i am glad they haven’t gone out and thrown money wastefully at average players.
Stacy Andrews would sure have looked good on the right side of the O-line though…
Forgot to add this about Jones…
He will be much better in their system with some real structure and good players around him…he went from the best player in our secondary to probably the 2nd or 3rd best player in Philly’s secondary.
The Browns couldn’t figure out a way to offer something more palatable to Sean Jones than the one year deal that Philly offered? Are you kidding me?
Viva la Mankok.
I can’t say I’m thrilled about this; Jones was a good player who actually wanted to stay with the Browns. I know he certainly wasn’t worth franchise money, but how do we let a guy like this just walk? And for a one-year contract? I hope Eric and George have something amazing planned for the draft . . .
[…] briefly reported yesterday that strong safety Sean Jones agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. One of the better players that the Browns had on defense, the team now has a gaping hole […]
