Indians Spring Training: The Crowded OF Thins Out For WBC
February 23, 2009Indians Spring Training: Trevor Crowe Has David Dellucci in the Crosshairs
February 24, 2009While We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.
“An interesting name showed up on the list of players interviewed by the Cleveland Browns: USC quarterback Mark Sanchez. The Browns, with two young quarterbacks in Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn, are probably the last team interested in drafting a quarterback with the No. 5 overall pick. But this shows Cleveland could be willing to explore trade options for teams looking to move up. Sanchez is expected to be the second quarterback taken and there are a lot of teams in need of that position. Cleveland getting to know Sanchez in Indianapolis could give the Browns a gauge of the player other teams are coveting.” [James Walker/ESPN]

A little news from the NFL combine: “Brian Robiskie (WR – Ohio State) – Already known for his excellent size (6-3), Robiskie posted a better than expected vertical (37.5 inches) and 40 time (4.51) at the combine […] Beanie Wells (RB – Ohio State) – The 235-lb. would-be mauler with the “brittle” tag dangling from his neck has never been known as a blazer, but his safetyesque 4.59 showing in the 40 was slower than GM’s probably would’ve liked and his 25 reps on bench were fewer than expected from a back with his build.” [The Big Lead]

On the David Dellucci “Gator” story: “Oh, happy day that almost was. But just for the sake of argument, let’s consider what life would be like in Tribeville if that imaginary gator had done a Peter Pan-like service to the community of Northeast Ohio and actually consumed all (or part) of David Dellucci’s arm.” [Jon Steiner/Bugs and Cranks]

“To make matters worse, we didn’t end up getting back to Columbus until about 3:15 in the a.m. and I didn’t go to sleep until around 4. This wouldn’t have been a problem if not for the fact that I had a test Thursday morning. I went into the test with about four hours of sleep and ended up having Bob Seger’s “Against The Wind” stuck in my head the entire time. Part of me thinks I should have just wrote the lyrics to “Against The Wind” down and turned in the test. Wait, did I just say part of me? Yeah, scratch that thought. I definitely should have just wrote down the lyrics and been on my way. Probably would have gotten the same grade anyway. [Mark Titus/Club Trillion]

And finally, The Basketball Jones discusses plenty of Cavaliers through the first 10 minutes of yesterday’s show. Give it a whirl. And realize that it was only a few months ago when there was a bit of skepticism from TBJ regarding the Wine and Gold.

I’m kind of curious to see what would happen if teams “let” Lebron score while trying to cover everyone else. The only way to really do that is to leave Lebron 1-on-1 against someone in the middle of the floor, and I feel like that’s just letting him shoot from within 5 feet every time down the court. If he’s shooting 60+% against that easier D while possibly taking his defender out of the game due to fouls, then I don’t think it hurts the Cavs but actually helps them.
Let Lebron run wild. Yes please.
Are these guys really suggesting that Dwight Howard attempt to check Lebron also? Again, yes please.
Aside from the Canadian accents that absolutely made my ears bleed.. Wait, that’s it.
TBJ is an everyday listen for me. They’re a solid mix of entertainment and analysis.
I don’t think they’re saying Howard will guard him one-on-one, but offers a big obstacle when LeBron gets into the paint.
Can’t wait to see how Jenkins does today.
Does anyone know if the Browns have any cap space to get a good-to-decent free agent? Or are we pretty much tied down thanks to Opie Savage?
Brendon – We got you covered. 11am.
Also, I think it’s interesting that there’s some talk of Illinois’ Vontae Davis passing up Jenkins as first CB selected. Dude put up 25 reps yesterday.
Not sure bench press has much to do with playing a sport

PD Sports afraid to give some blog love?
The WFNY post where version 1.0 was posted on 1/14 (scroll down to the posts in the 30’s). At the time the one on realcavsfan was unknown but this great idea apparently grew in several places

The blog where others claim Kenny “Rip-off”Roda stole the idea (dated 12/12)

Yeah I saw that. That is fantastic for a DB. I wonder if we are looking at Jenkins with “scarlet and gray” colored glasses
bridgecrosser – they referenced realcavsfans as a “fan message board.” Dave Martin did get some quotes in though – that’s pretty cool.

yeah, I don’t see how being physically strong would help you play football…what were they thinking?
[…] do they have a trick up their sleeve? This was mentioned by in yesterday’s WWW by Scott, but could Kokinis and Mangini be so disenchanted with both QB’s, that they are eyeing […]
