Freezing Opener Pushed Back Two Weeks
September 19, 2008Et tu, Dwyane?
September 19, 2008The injury report from yesterday’s Browns practice was released in the evening. I was not surprised to see most of the names on the list. Sean Jones is still out with his knee injury. As is Martin Rucker. Neither players participated in any point of practice.
Also not surprising was that Donte Stallworth missed yet another practice with his mysterious pre-game hamstring injury, and may not play in what is now his third straight game. But two other players also missed Thursday’s practice: Willie McGinest (hamstring) and Eric Steinbach (shoulder).
Limited in practice were Josh Cribbs, now experiencing shoulder problems; Braylon Edwards, also with a shoulder; Jamal Lewis, Shaun Smith and Ryan Tucker.
Now Tucker being limited is actually a good thing as he appears to be making strides to return from his hip injury. His return will fill in a huge hole on the offensive line. But the injuries to Edwards and Cribbs seemed to have flown under the radar – at least in my opinion.
I knew that Cribbs was favoring his ankle a bit, as seen in the Pittsburgh game. But I can’t blame him, given the conditions. But when did he and Edwards hurt their shoulders?
Perhaps this is a bit of gamesmanship, but with all of the injuries that the Browns have endured to this point in the season, I’m not sure toying with the report is good for the collective blood pressure in Northeastern Ohio.
We will keep you updated with today’s practice report. The OBR reports that Cribbs will be outside today, but we’ll see about everyone else. Keep the fingers crossed.

When the big expectations fall through and everyone is bashing your team, everyone seems to have some nagging injury that keeps them collecting a pay check but not practicing/playing.
This is a bad sign (except Willie who is probably showing his age)

I’m surprised Cribbs’ head is still attached after the hit on that last return Sunday night.
Are you sure Braylon has a shoulder injury and not a hand injury? Maybe an eye injury – he can’t see himself catching a pass?
I always think they place players on the injury report to mess with the other team’s gameplan. I was oh-so-very-wrong about Beanie in the USC game, so I’ll not go there again.
How is it that Winslow has a detachable shoulder, yet catches 4-6 passes over the middle, gets whalloped and never goes on the DL?
2007 was a fluke in that the Browns actually didn’t have a million injuries. Too bad things have returned to their post-1999 dismal state.
I think the worst part of the return to that state, Boomhauer, the length of the fall from last year. We’re used to being let down, but it’s usually a shorter fall.
Ugh. Nothing more to say to that.
