The NBA released the 2022-2023 schedule on Wednesday and there is a ton to be excited about for the upcoming Cavaliers season: A significant increase in national TV games, an extended home stand over the holidays, and roughly 34,000 miles traveled throughout the 82-game regular season.
NBA 2022-2023 Key Dates:
- The NBA officially begins the season on October 18.
- All-Star weekend will be held in Salt Lake City from February 17-19.
- The play-In tournament is April 11-14.
- Playoffs begin on April 15.
- Game 1 of the NBA Finals is set for June 1.
Cavaliers Key Schedule Take-a-ways:
- The Cavs open their season on the road against Toronto on Wednesday, October 19.
- The home opener is on Sunday, October 23 vs. the Washington Wizards
- The Cavaliers have nine national TV appearances this season:
- TNT – 2: December 6 vs. Lakers and February 2 vs. Grizzlies
- ESPN – 3: February 10 at New Orleans, March 1 at Boston, and March 15 vs. Sixers
- NBA TV – 4: November 7 at L.A. Clippers, December 26 vs. Nets, March 10 at Miami, and March 21 at Brooklyn
- Their longest home stand is December 16-26 (six games)
- The Cavs will match up against each Eastern Conference opponent four times with the exception of Washington, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Brooklyn, who they’ll play three times
- The Cavaliers will face each Western Conference opponent twice, both home and away.
- Cleveland fans have a nice weekend slate of home games to choose from, including eight Friday games, five Saturday games, and nine Sunday games
- The final five games of the regular season are against teams who did not make the playoffs last season: Knicks (1), Pacers (1), Magic (2), and Hornets (1)
Marquee Matchups:
- LeBron James and the Lakers return to Cleveland on December 6.
- Cleveland will host the Pelicans for a special Martin Luther King Jr. Day matinee game on January 16.
- NBA champion Golden State Warriors visit Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on January 20.
- The reigning Eastern Conference champion Celtics will visit Cleveland on November 2 and March 6.
There is so much excitement about this team and what they are set to bring back this upcoming season. October 18 cannot come soon enough.
