May 11, 2021Rank’em: The biggest and best games on the 2021 Browns schedule
May 13, 2021The Cleveland Browns now know their path to getting back to the playoffs this season. On Wednesday, the entire 2021 NFL schedule was released and it marks the first season with 17 games for every team. Cleveland one of the teams with an extra home game. The season kicks off where the Browns 2020 season ended last year. Cleveland is set to start the season in Kansas City to face the Chiefs in a rematch of the AFC Divisional game from last season that saw Cleveland lose in a close game. It is the 4:25 p.m. ET time slot on CBS, so that could mean we will have the Jim Nantz/Tony Romo broadcast team. It will be a fun game for the Browns to see how they fare against one of the best teams in the league. The transformed Browns defense will get an early-season test.

The Browns will not be shy from the national audience. Cleveland is set to play in three prime-time games, plus on Christmas day. Cleveland plays their first prime time game in Week 7. This is a Thursday night game versus the Denver Broncos. The next game under the lights is Week 12 when Cleveland heads to Baltimore to face the Ravens for Sunday Night Football on NBC. The final primetime game is Week 17 (No, that is not the final week of the season anymore) as the Browns go on the road to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers on Monday Night Football on ESPN. And, as I noted earlier, the Browns play the Packers in Green Bay on Christmas Day at 4:30 P.M. in front of the national audience.
There are a couple of quirks with Cleveland’s schedule. The first is a monumental one. In one of the first times, I can remember, the Browns play an opponent in back-to-back games. And, the intrigue and importance are heightened even more because the opponent is the Baltimore Ravens, the biggest contender next to Cleveland to win the AFC North. The Browns play them in Week 12 on Sunday Night Football. Cleveland has a bye the next week and then plays at home versus the Ravens in Week 14. It is such an important stretch for Cleveland. The other quirk is Week 15. There is no official date or time yet for the Las Vegas Raiders game because they could play either Saturday or Sunday.
Overall, the release just means we are one step closer to the Browns 2021 season. It cannot come soon enough!
