January 22, 2021WFNY Staff Chat: Cesar is back, more free agents to come, and starting pitching talk
January 26, 2021If it weren’t for bad news like the team trading Francisco Lindor, it seems we wouldn’t be talking about the Cleveland Indians at all. However, it appears that the team is intent on playing games this year with players on the roster. Jon Heyman reports that the Indians are bringing back Cesar Hernandez to play second base for the club.

That’s not the biggest news of the day, but it’s legitimate news at least. The rest of the Indians talk revolves around a twitter rumor from someone most of us have never heard of before. It involves the idea that the Indians would be trading Jose Ramirez to the Braves.
The #Braves are talking to the Indians about a potential trade involving versatile infielder Jose Ramirez. Ramirez slashes .290/.366/.895 since 2016, with 325 XBH in that time.

Now, we’re talking about a tweet. There’s almost no reason to mention it, except that it’s instructive that it’s so believable. In an off-season where they’ve cut payroll in the most dramatic way we’ve ever seen, it feels all too believable that the Indians would punt on Ramirez, despite having Ramirez under contract through the end of 2023 via options of $12 million and $14 million.
Again, the catalyst for this conversation is just a lone tweet from someone that we don’t know to be trustworthy.
Having fun yet?
