It’s Penn State Week. It might not be Michigan Week, but it’s quite a good week to hate on the Nittany Lions and to get Buckeye Nation prepared to hate on the Wolverines next week.
Penn State is not only arguably Ohio State’s second-biggest rival right now, but this Saturday’s game is essentially a play-in game for the Big Ten championship game. The winner of the matchup will control their own destiny in the Big Ten East division.
In case this game needed any more proof that it’s important, the Buckeyes have won each of the last two games against the Nittany Lions by a combined two points. Penn State won the matchup in 2016 only by three. It’s been close, which is why it’s been so good.
Add in that it’s No. 2 vs. No. 8, and this game is easy to get amped up and energetic for, unlike last week against Rutgers. If you, for some reason, still need to find a reason or two to get excited and ready for Saturday afternoon, the Buckeyes are once again here to save the day. Ohio State’s video and graphics team are here to save the day, per usual, with a video trailer that shows plenty of highlights and gives us all an inside look at the Buckeyes on game day.
“I told you we have something special going and you guys know it,” head coach Ryan Day tells his team. “You guys can feel it. It’s in the air. It’s when you walk into the building. It’s when you’re on the field. Don’t let go of what you have, men. You have a group in front of you right now that’s trying to take away what you have.”
Throughout much of the last few years, the Buckeyes have made The Brotherhood an important part of their program. The closeness, the chemistry, the team-friendly group of coaches and players, it all combines to be there for your brothers. In case you needed another reminder, that was an important part of this video as well.
“For the rest of your life you’ll have the brothers in this room to look back upon if you wanna do this,” Days says.
“Brotherhood is not leaning on a guy, it’s giving up yourself to the guy next to you,” defensive line coach Larry Johnson tells the team to get them ready. “You cannot share brotherhood if you’re not willing to give all you got.”
“You set the standard,” offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson says. “You bring the juice. Make sure we show up as us. All we got for 60 minutes. As hard as you’ve ever played. For. The. Brotherhood.”
Besides just the outstanding graphics and editing work throughout the video, the trailer is filled with plenty of touchdowns, turnover-making plays, punt blocks, and some of the best highlights from the first 10 games of the season.
The best part about this, as the first player that was shown in the video has proven: Chase Young is back. The most dominant player in college football not only got a two-game break to rest but now has a chip on his shoulder. Let’s pour one out for all of the opposing offensive linemen that have to go against The Predator in the next few weeks.
Ohio State and Penn State kick off at noon from the Horseshoe. If you’re looking for something to watch prior to the game, ESPN, FOX, and Big Ten Network will all have their pregame shows live from Columbus Saturday morning. You could say it’s an important matchup.
