After taking care of business against Florida Atlantic and Cincinnati to start the season, the Ohio State Buckeyes not only go on the road for the first time this season but also start their Big Ten season when they travel to Bloomington to take on the Indiana Hoosiers this weekend. Indiana might not be the toughest conference foe, but every Big Ten game is important, as Ohio State’s video trailer for the game explains.
“It’s had many names. But since 1895, the Big Ten conference. has been a pillar of this sport we call football. For 107 of those years, we’ve been proud to call this league home,” former Ohio State receiver and current Washington Redskins rookie Terry McLaurin narrates. “Defined by work ethic, resiliency, and resolve. This conference doesn’t offer its crown to just anyone. It must be earned.
“Over that century-plus, we’ve never been gifted anything. We’ve fought for every win. Earned every hardware. These trophies we see are not won in one game in December. They are the culmination of a journey. An honor earned week by week. Through relentless hustle, forge resolve, and unmatched toughness. Thirty-seven times we’ve stood on that stage. Thirty-seven times we’ve watched the confetti fall. Thirty-seven times we’ve hoisted a polished trophy to the sky. But from our first to our latest, it’s never been about our swag or the shine, it’s been about the grit and the grind.”
Filled with highlights both new and old, including some of the best plays in Big Ten play that feature the likes of Archie Griffin and Michael Jenkins, among others, the Buckeyes have once again outdone themselves with this one. Like the other trailers, the video also features plenty of hard-hitting, highlight-reel, touchdown-making plays from so far this season as well.
In case the team still isn’t ready for the Week 3 matchup against Indiana, assistant athletic director for football sports performance Mickey Marotti is here to save the day.
“You have to be a tough guy,” Marotti says to his team. “You have to play as hard as you’ve ever played. You have to play as fast as you’ve ever played. It ain’t about them. It’s about this,”
“It’s about you and the tough guy. At the end of the day, you either were or you weren’t. Every play as hard as you can, and fast as you can, and most importantly,
The Buckeyes have had their way with Indiana, but it’s Big Ten season, at least for now. That should be enough motivation not only to be ready for the game but to make sure you give it your all as well, both for players on the field and fans off of it.
“Our latest story through this storied conference starts now,” McLaurin says at the end of the video.
Ohio State and Indiana kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday in Bloomington.
