059 – It’s Time! Let’s Go Browns! — Andy & Jarid, Cleveland & Beyond
September 7, 2019Instant Insights: Browns lose, 43-13, to the Titans
September 8, 2019Kickoff is just under an hour away, and in case you’re not already in downtown Cleveland getting ready for the game, we have you covered with some pregame notes and tidbits ahead of the Browns season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
First and foremost, what a feeling it was waking up today, right? The excitement, the optimism, that feeling that maybe—just maybe—the Browns will, in fact, be good this season (and beyond). For much of the last two decades, that optimism quickly faded because it was clear that the orange and brown just weren’t good. This season is different.
Ahead of the Browns facing the Titans in Week 1, Cleveland released their inactive list.

Among the surprises:
- Unless there is an injury we don’t know about, Genard Avery is by far the most surprising player on the inactive list. Chad Thomas got the nod over him, which doesn’t seem ideal.
- Although some wanted Garrett Gilbert to be the backup quarterback behind Baker Mayfield, with him being on the inactive list, it will once against be Drew Stanton as the second-stringer.
- Third-round pick Sione Takitaki was listed as a limited participant in practice all week while nursing a hamstring injury, but the backup linebacker is inactive for Week 1.
While there was a competition between rookie Greedy Williams and Terrance Mitchell throughout camp for who will be CB2 opposite of Denzel Ward, Williams appears to have won it. The second-round pick will start his first NFL game in the season opener.
Looking at the opponent, the Titans were already without left tackle Taylor Lewan, who is suspended for the first four games of the season. Tennessee will also be without starting right guard Kevin Pamphile. Right tackle Jack Conklin was also on the injury report all last week but is expected to start. In all, the Titans are without the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history and their right guard against the Browns’ defensive line in Week 1. Good luck.
There’s something special brewing in Cleveland this fall. The Dawg Pound is beyond ready. It’s something they’ve been waiting on for a long time. It all kicks off at 1:05 p.m. ET at FirstEnergy Stadium.
