Tate Martell is the perfect quarterback for The U, wasn’t a good fit for Ryan Day
January 17, 2019Final 2018 Cleveland Browns Report Card: Tight End/Fullback
January 18, 2019Happy Friday everyone! Thanks for coming on by WFNY. A big shoutout to our supporters on Patreon. I’ve been ramping up my contributions over there and hopefully finally delivering some exclusive content to the most loyal supporters this site has. Thanks to them and hopefully you’ll consider throwing us a bone this year. I’ll try and make it worth something extra.
The Cavs stink. The Browns are finished for the season. The Indians aren’t inspiring a lot of confidence and aren’t reporting to Spring Training just yet, so what’s a Cleveland sports fan to do? Catch up on ridiculous amounts television that’s available here in the age of TV. That’s just what I’ve been doing.
Pine Gap on Netflix…
I really enjoyed this show. Stephen King enjoyed this show too, so I think that’s saying something. It was very much like the best parts of Homeland when Homeland was early on in its run. The acting isn’t all that amazing. One of the female characters reminded me quite a bit of Dexter’s sister Deb, which isn’t that much of a compliment. In the end, however, it was an enjoyable watch.
Big Little Lies on HBO…
I know I’m late to this one, but my wife TV-cheated on me with this one and I had to find some time to catch up by myself. With all the snow, I’ve been hitting the exercise bike every morning rather than running. So, catch up I did, and as someone who didn’t have Big Little Lies ruined by that pesky book, I thought it was one of the more compelling and well-constructed TV shows I’ve ever seen. I asked my wife why she merely told me it was “good” and not one of the best things that HBO has ever produced. She read the book.
I’m not telling you it’s The Wire or The Sopranos, but it rivals certain seasons of Six Feet Under, which I loved desperately. And many have wondered how they can go about season two, but I can’t wait. They set up the whole thing in the final episode with the detective. It could be fascinating to see how that all unfolds if it’s as well-constructed as the initial season.
Baker Mayfield is a star and it’s fun…
Terry Pluto wrote this week that he couldn’t stop thinking about how Freddie Kitchens isn’t in his position today without Baker Mayfield. I agree with him wholeheartedly. Beyond that, I just have to once again remark how wonderful it is to have a quarterback who is good enough to be a star.
Watch Baker Mayfield nuzzle a tuba player on a late-night show. 2019 is starting well.
Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer…
I can’t tell you how happy I am that the Marvel crew picked up the Spider-Man license. These movies are geared toward kids. My kids are infatuated with them, and I don’t feel awful taking my kids to see them. They’re not nearly as dark as other Marvel features. As we all know, Spider-Man should be for the kids.
Andrew and I talked sports…
I’m trying to get back on my podcast game a bit. Andrew helped this week.
