The Indians Should Sign Alex Cobb
March 14, 2018Browns’ Joe Thomas Announces Retirement from NFL
March 14, 2018The Cleveland Browns continued their blizzard of moves on Wednesday, nabbing a cornerback to add to their secondary. The Browns agreed in principle with former Kansas City cornerback Terrance Mitchell. The contract is reportedly a three-year deal worth $12 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This continues another busy day for the Browns, who have signed running back Carlos Hyde and tight end Darren Fells early in the day.
Terrance Mitchell is a 25-year old corner, who was drafted in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Oregon. He is listed at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds. Last season with the Chiefs, he played in 15 games with nine starts at cornerback. He notched 53 tackles, 18 passes defended and four interceptions. Over his four seasons in the NFL, he has 85 tackles, one sack, 27 passes defended, one forced fumble and five interceptions.
Former Chiefs’ CB Terrance Mitchell intends to sign a 3-year, $12 million deal with the Cleveland Browns, per source.

The signing of Mitchell is the second addition to the Browns secondary this offseason. Last week, the Browns acquired defensive back Damarious Randall from the Green Bay Packers in the deal that sent quarterback DeShone Kizer to the Packers. Randall will likely move to free safety when he officially becomes a Brown today. The Browns secondary struggled last season. The Cleveland defense allowed the highest passer rating and completion percentage in the entire league. It was one of the biggest needs that Browns general manager John Dorsey had to address this offseason.
But even with the addition of Mitchell and Randall, the Browns are likely not done addressing the secondary. There are still quite of a few corners left on the free agent market like Kyle Fuller and Rashaan Melvin. However, the Browns could look to fill this need in the draft with one of their five draft picks over the course of the first two rounds. This need is not done with its makeover.
