August 29, 2017At last, college football is back! Although it doesn’t seem like it’s been almost eight months since the Ohio State Buckeyes last took the field, the scarlet and gray are set to take on Big Ten foe Indiana in Bloomington Thursday night to kickoff their 2017 season. Much like the rest of us, Ohio State’s football team and video and graphics team have also not only been ready for the season, but preparing for the season as well.
Luckily for Buckeye Nation, the video and graphics team hasn’t missed a beat even with the long offseason. On Monday, the team released the first trailer of the season, this one is to prepare you for Ohio State’s season opener against the Hoosiers on the road.
At the beginning of the video, Jocko Willink, commander SEAL Team Three’s Task Unit Bruiser during the Battle of Ramadi, is heard talking about war. With his voice heard, there are highlights of Ohio State’s game against Clemson in the College Football Playoff Semifinal last December, a game that the Buckeyes were shutout in. While comparing football to war seems a bit extreme, both offer some of the same life lessons.
“War is a nightmare. But war is also an incredible teacher. War teaches you about sorrow, and loss and pain,” Willink said. “But war also teaches you about brotherhood, and humility, and honor, and leadership.”
Then, the 2017 camp highlights begin. Glittered with plenty of highlights from both players and coaches. Obviously, you can’t forget about the top highlights from 2016, so they even mixed those in as well.
The Buckeyes’ motto in 2017 seems to be ownership, as the video let’s us know:
In 2017, we take ownership.
Of our past.
Of our future.
Of our mind.
Of our heart.
Of our body.
Of our unit.
Of our team.
Of our family.
“Don’t make excuses. Don;t blame any other person or other thing. Take ownership of everything in your world. Of your team, of your future, take ownership of your life.”
In primetime on Thursday, College Gameday will be in Bloomington prior to kickoff. It is arguably the biggest opener, especially at home, in Indiana’s history. Anywhere the No. 2-ranked Buckeyes travel to will be a big game for that team. A season opener? That’s even bigger. The Hoosiers will be ready, but the Buckeyes will be too. If they’re not, I suggest Ohio State should watch this trailer in order to get ready to play some football!
Is it Thursday night yet?
