Previewing the Lines and Jabrill Peppers: WFNY Video Shorts
August 7, 2017Brock this town? Hue says “it is not over yet”
August 8, 2017While other teams have been trickling their new Nike Basketball uniforms out over the course of the last few weeks, the Cleveland Cavaliers have officially raised the curtain on two of their new color combinations for what will be the foreseeable future. Dubbed the Association (white) and Icon (wine) Editions, each uniform is made of Nike’s innovative high-performance technology and will feature the company’s signature Swoosh logo, the Cavaliers’ new shield-based logo and word mark, and the wingfoot branding of the team’s newest sponsor, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
The shield, which was recently added to the Cavaliers updated logo collection and branding, is represented as a silhouette into the design of the uniform. A gold accent trim outlines the V of the collar, runs down the side and back shoulders of the jersey and onto the shorts to shape the edges of the armor. The team’s long-time catch phrase, “All For One. One For All.” is once again showcased in two strategically-placed areas of the uniform. It is first noticed by the player on the bottom of the jersey above the Nike jock tag designed to provide inspiration as the player tucks in the jersey and mentally prepares for competition. The mantra is also represented under the flaps on the front of the shorts.
According to the team, the Association edition pays homage to the NBA, as every team has the traditional white jersey in their collection. The Icon edition is the primary color uniform that represents the unique identity and rich heritage of each of the 30 teams in the league, with wine paying tribute to the Cavaliers. In addition, uniforms will no longer have a “home” or “road” color designation. The home team will have the opportunity to choose what color uniform they wear at home games and the visiting team will wear a contrasting color. The league will also continue to display a small gold patch on the back center collar of each jersey for all teams that have won an NBA championship.
The Association and Icon edition jerseys will be available for purchase on Friday, September 29. Additional versions of the Cavaliers’ uniform set will be rolled out throughout the 2017-18 NBA season.

First the Browns go from Orange to Orangier… then the #2 jersey goes from Wine to Whiner
I dig em. Sponsor logo isn’t bad. Check out some of the other teams… https://www.si.com/nba/2017/07/26/nba-jersey-sponsors-list-teams-unform-patches-nike
Does Kyrie’s jersey look more Whiner than last year’s Wine?
I like the “golder” gold, and while I wish the wine could have a hint more of a purple tinge to make it not burgundy, I still appreciate the darker hue, as it shifts us firmly out of the mustard+ketchup era. I don’t care for the font quite as much, either for the numbers or the text due to the C’s and S’s looking a bit overly affected and gimmicky – and not aligned with the script C on the shorts which they are apparently keeping. Overall, not bad, but I wish they had either altered the script C mark or found a way to incorporate similar styling into the other typeface.
The shield in the neckline is a nice touch, though I don’t like it as much on the sides of the jersey.
He has his own special stitching.
Kyrie For Kyrie. Kyrie For Kyrie.
Kinda looks the same to me.

NBA2K18 cover boy, you say?
The poor guy just isn’t getting enough attention, is he? Sad.
Maybe he should hold his breath until he passes out.

Sooo…Magic is going to win it all this year, then?

Font is not great (letters are meh, numbers are awful), and we remain wine and gold in name only.
