Unqualified Advice for the Browns
September 7, 2016Browns, Netflix TV, and Smashing Pumpkins: While We’re Waiting
September 8, 2016Following their 77-10 rout over the Bowling Green Falcons, the Ohio State Buckeyes are ranked fourth in both the Associated Press and Coaches poll.
The Bucks moved up two spots in the AP poll – from No. 6 in the preseason to No. 4 – after a week full of upsets in the top-10 that included four of these top teams losing their season opener. While they moved up to fourth, the scarlet and gray still trail Alabama, Clemson, and Florida State in both polls.
Ohio State, who is expected to have another cake walk when they host Tulsa Saturday afternoon, will face their first true test of the season in Week 3, when they travel to Norman, Oklahoma, to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. In the preseason poll, the Sooners were No. 3, but following their loss to the Houston Cougars, the Sooners have dropped to No. 14. Even with their loss and tumble in the rankings, it will be a major game for Ohio State in terms of the rankings and their potential to make it into their second College Football Playoff in three years.
Any away game is tough for a team, but traveling to Oklahoma and playing in front of a sold-out crowd full of Sooner fans will be an especially difficult task for a young team such as the Buckeyes. It will be the first road game for many of the players. What a way to start off your career on the road, right? Luckily, head coach Urban Meyer and the rest of the coaching staff will have their team prepared no matter what the situation is.
Houston is led by head coach Tom Herman. In case you forgot, Herman was the offensive coordinator who helped lead the Buckeyes to the inaugural College Football championship in January, 2015. The Cougars hopped from No. 15 to No. 6 with their upset victory over Oklahoma.
Other Big Ten teams who are ranked: (AP poll, Coaches poll)
- Michigan: No. 5, No. 6
- Wisconsin: No. 10, No. 16
- Michigan State: No. 12, No. 8
- Iowa: No. 16, No. 10
And, don’t forget, the ESPN-vaunted SEC went 7-7 because the Tennessee Volunteers and Arkansas Razorbacks both barely survived upset bids by Group of Five conference teams.

LSU traveled up North. First time SEC went North of Mason-Dixon line for an OOC in many years. How did it turn out?

Arbitrary nonsense. Might as well order these teams by numbers of space elves enrolled at each school.
Gotta love the “post poll” NCAA.
Nice mesh. Classy.
Things don’t generally go well when the south comes above the Mason-Dixon to do battle. There’s a little place just over an hour away from my home that demonstrates this very vividly. Granted, we took our lumps down south, too, but a couple of Ohio boys settled that mess out in ’64 and ’65.
The look on his face! “I’m about to be hit!!!!”
these weekly rankings are a reason to come here and post GIFs though – what more can we ask of the NCAA?
We can ask a lot. Like, non-tyrannical, non-greedy management of athletes, for starters. But your point is well-taken. I should manage my expectations.
Mg is on fire. By the way, I love how the almighty SEC lost and it was hardly mentioned.
Yawn. That was, what, five years ago? 😉
I much prefer this one:

we have identified the root of Wolverine football issues. they start playing football but halfway through break into playing basketball
maybe 4 quarters of football each week will lead to better results
