Browns free agency, Cavaliers boredom and UFC with Ben Axelrod – WFNY Podcast No. 469
March 11, 2016Survive and Advance: Buckeyes beat Penn State, set to play No. 2 Sparty—again
March 11, 2016It took slightly longer than expected, but the Cleveland Browns followed through on their word that they wouldn’t put up with Johnny Manziel’s behavior. On Friday March 11, 2016 at 11:34 am the Cleveland Browns confirmed that they waived their former first round draft choice.
The reaction around Cleveland was immediate.

This will be 1st weekend in 2 yrs that I don't have to watch for #Browns Johnny Manziel hanging out w/Scott Disick, Drake, Gronk, Biebs
— Mary Kay Cabot (@MaryKayCabot) March 11, 2016
And Mary Kay Cabot’s point is the one that should hang out there most of all. The Browns have disassociated themselves from a guy that just couldn’t keep their name out of the wrong kinds of stories. After trying to support the young quarterback and be patient, sometimes to the point of protecting him, the team finally grew tired of it being such a one-way street.
Johnny Manziel has problems, and it’s never a great thing when someone with problems is abandoned. Then again, maybe this abandoning by the Browns will help catalyze another cycle of help like the one Manziel entered last year when he went to rehab. Maybe this will finally help create some kind of bottom for the quarterback that doesn’t involve him hurting himself or anyone else. We’ll see, of course, but nothing in the professional world has seemed to have much traction in terms of affecting his behavior. On the eve of his release by the Browns TMZ was reporting a fourth straight night of partying.
Regardless, he is no longer a problem of the Cleveland Browns. Hue Jackson won’t have to answer questions like Mike Pettine was forced to for two straight years. Johnny Manziel is now just another quarterback name with the word “former” next to his name in the history books of the Cleveland Browns. It’s not something worth celebrating, but it was inevitable. It had to happen, and it finally did.
Your move Jerry Jones.

Listen, (unfortunately) I read all her stuff and (unfortunately) listened to many of her pods about Johnny, and there is no way she was faking her Johnny excitement.
[Paused typing the above to briefly consider whether tigersbrown is actually onto something about my MKC hostility … nah …. hmm? … naah …]
Verily, hethinks thou doth protest too much.
Ha ha, how do you do it, RG?
My God, MrCleaveland, he did create his own problems. I did use the word “abandon” but I certainly don’t think I characterized what the Browns did as wrong. So calm down and maybe try being nicer when you think I picked the wrong word. I’m a reasonable person, but this comment really rubbed me the wrong way.
Balance in all things.

(Come on Dave, gimme a break)
Hey, hey, hey, hey, one break comin’ up!
I feel like I should say something about this, but actually over the past five years or so the Browns have gone through such a great effort to alienate me that I don’t have any reaction to this. After the debacles of, in no particular order, Holmgren, Richardson, Weeden, Shurmur, Banner, Lombardi, Pettine, Farmer, Gilbert, and so on and so on, I just don’t care about Manziel.
Up until I think the Holmgren hire the Browns were an ordinary bad team that did ordinary bad things and even sometimes got things right. But ever since that cursed day — or maybe it was when the team hired some guy named George Kokinis to be their GM — the Browns have passed into some bizarro world where even the simplest tasks, like not drafting a QB based on anticipated jersey sales or hiring a GM with even some experience in talent evaluation or re-signing successful draft picks before their first contract expires or having the owner give a press conference without announcing that the team isn’t even go to try to have a winning record next year, are completely beyond them.
“And on a day the Browns celebrated the careers of legends like Jim Brown and Paul Warfield, Legends of the Future Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson lined up to take on the (whoever).”
More or less an exact quote from her from a few years back and at that point the cleveland.com bookmark got deleted off my favorites tab.
Yeah, I know I flipped out. I just about had a stroke when I read abandoned, but I should have counted to 10. Or maybe 11. But I’ve calmed down. You’re right. My bad. I apologize.
Change “George” to “Johnny” and it’s perfect!
A prince among paupers.
Oh happy day!

Not one to let football acumen get in the way of a catchy lead she.
[The more comments about her the more repulsed/attracted I am. Please everyone, stop. Yes yes, I started it. Just help a brotha out]
Whereas the Brandon Weeden cut/waive was a joyous occasion of GIF’s. Johnny’s departure has too much sadness associated with it to be happy.
Godspeed Manziel. May you figure out whatever it is in life you are chasing.
I would go a different route here. The Manziel stories actually seemed to up her game quite a bit. She deserved a “most improved journalist” award for 2015. She was on top of stories instead of parroting on many occasions. Be interesting to see if that falls off without Johnny.

Sorry, couldn’t help myself after you used “chasing.”

Fat guy in Johnny shirt w/ crying jordan face would break internet right now.
WHY DON’T I HAVE PHOTOSHOP?
Who will MKC target for elimination next?
Hey, just got here. What did I miss?
Not exactly a great loss!
I took some guesses on what’s next for Johnny, would love to know what you all think http://hardnosports.com/2016/03/11/question-of-the-day-where-will-johnny-manziel-play-next/
calling out a bunch of shoddy journalism in one of her “articles”
I am getting a salary of 5800 dollars each week…op Over a year ago I was in a horrible condition , jobless and no bank credit . Thanks to one of my friends who showed me a way where I was able to gather myself and making average of 56 d/h. So it can change your life as it has changed mine.
