Browns ABC’s: Another Bruised Coach, Week 7
October 27, 2015A roundup of Cavs predictions, projections, rankings, and more
October 27, 2015The last time Cavs fans saw Rose, he was leaving the United Center floor following a Matthew Dellavedova 19-point explosion in the second round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. In fact, Rose’s Chicago Bulls have been sent packing four times in the last six years by a LeBron James-led oppoenent. With the Bulls hosting James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to open the NBA’s 2015-16 regular season, the oft-injured former MVP said that James’ domination of his team isn’t necessarily a bad thing—there’s a silver lining to all these early vacations.1
“It actually makes me work harder,” said Rose on Monday. “If anything it makes me want to play against him even more. He’s a great player. That team is great. If anything, he pushes you to work harder on your game.”
Rose made his season debut in Chicago’s preseason finale on Friday, scoring eight points in 10 minutes in a victory over the Dallas Mavericks. It was his first game following an orbital fracture which was suffered during Bulls training camp. Conversely, James missed the last two weeks of the preseason following a planned resting period that included an injection in his lower back. Both players say they are full go for Tuesday evening’s tilt.
“Derrick’s going to go,” Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said on Monday. “We’ll start Derrick [on Tuesday], and we’ll see on minutes. He doesn’t have any restrictions, per se, but we’ll be a little bit careful just for the fact that he hasn’t had a lot of practice time.”
