July 17, 2015The 2015 ESPY Awards themselves may not have gone the way that the Ohio State Buckeyes faithful may have wanted, but the night was further enhanced by a series of tweets from the only starting quarterback to ever win a College Football Playoff championship, Cardale “12 Gauge” Jones.
Jones both pursued and elicited a video response from UFC Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey because, well, he is Cardale Jones.
Jones thought the best route to pursuing Ronda Rousey was to do so in the public forum of twitter. First, he told the world that he both admires and respects Ronda Rousey in order to lay a foundation.

With the foundation set, Jones decided to skip a few steps and go for a more direct approach as he directly asks about Ms. Rousey’s post-ESPY plans.
Soooooooo @RondaRousey what you doing after the show?

However, the brashness of such an approach might be misconstrued, and Cardale Jones apparently wanted to show that he also has a sense of humility. So, he admitted that he would be willing to defer his affections if she was otherwise taken, while also intelligently giving yet another nod of respect towards her profession.
@RondaRousey but if you already talking to a UFC fighter I'm cool 😂

Of course, before he started to pursue Ronda Rousey, Jones demonstrated gracefulness in defeat. Cardale Jones might have lost out on the Best Breakthrough Athlete Award to Mo’ne Davis, but Jones made sure to let everyone know that he is a big fan of hers. Showing good sportsmanship is important in mixed martial arts, but I assume that Cardale Jones already knew that item.

Now, one might watch the Ronda Rousey video and make note that she purposefully avoided any of the romantic tangents associated with Cardale Jones messages to her. She was aloof in her responses about what she was doing that night and also gave a nod to the men of her profession. However, I have seen Ronda Rousey give interviews. What I have not seen is Ronda Rousey blushing and giggling. Whether she was embarrassed that the situation warranted a response or if there is more to it is yet to be seen. But, kudos to Cardale Jones for having the gusto to go after his dreams.

Normally, I find Rousey pretty insufferable, but her Mayweather blast was epic.
Either she is quite the actress or Cardale has a real shot once she’s done training.
