Browns ink Rob Housler to one-year deal
April 9, 2015C-Cap Recap: Bauer’s Finest Hour and a Near No-No
April 9, 2015The 2015 NFL season is a long ways away with the offseason’s biggest event, the NFL Draft, a couple weeks away. But to give fans something to think and talk about before then, the Browns released the schedule (more of a range of dates than exact dates) for their 2015 preseason on Thursday. The schedule involves a national televised game and a key exclusion.
In game one of the preseason, which will take place between August 13-17, the Browns play their first home game of the season versus the Washington Redskins. The team then plays their final home preseason game on August 20th versus the Buffalo Bills on ESPN. It is one of a few nationally televised preseason games in the NFL. In week three of the preseason, known as the dress rehearsal for the regular season because starters usually play more than a half, the Browns will travel to Tampa Bay between August 27-30 to face the Buccaneers. To finish up the 2015 preseason, the Browns will play the Chicago Bears on the road either on September 3rd or 4th.
The biggest news of the 2015 Browns preseason schedule release is the exclusion of the Great Lakes Classic versus the Detroit Lions. The team had played the Lions in the preseason ever since 2002, when Randy Lerner thought of the brilliant idea of the Great Lakes Classic. The memories of watching Brady Quinn and Beau Bell will be just an afterthought now with the end of the annual Great Lakes Classic. Here is a video to remember from the “Game that means so little, but meant so much!”

After conquering western Lake Erie basin the mighty Cleveland Browns steamer chugged into the capital city of the eastern Lake Erie basin ready to vanquish their foes in Buffalo in the “New Great Lakes Classic”.
And the Great Lakes Classic takes its rightful place alongside the NFL’s Playoff Bowl of the late ’60s (look it up) and the NCAA’s Final Four Consolation Game. Good riddance. The Pro Bowl’s next.
(The College All-Star Game in August was actually a very cool thing, but it meant that NFL teams couldn’t bring their star rookies to camp until after then, so they eventually scrapped it. That’s a pity.)
Is that the right logo? 😉
Did the article fonts get smaller for anyone else recently?
Yes, it’s not just you.
That logo doesn’t really match the passion of the fans or the city of Cleveland
