Baron Davis wants to make a comeback, has talked with Cavs

March 1, 2015Former Browns linebacker Kaluka Maiava has turned himself in to serve a jail sentence for assault. It’s only a 15-day sentence for what sounds like a bar fight back in 2013 where Maiava and his brother reportedly walked up to two men and “punched them repeatedly.”
“This conviction will have an adverse effect on his ability to join another team and continue playing professionally — despite being in good condition and healthy to play,” Lowenthal said. “A conviction should not be the final factor that leads to an early end to a professional football career.”
The judge, however, said Maiava should not get special treatment “because he is an NFL player, makes a lot of money, has a lot of friends.”
It’s not much of a compliment to be known as one of Eric Mangini’s best draft picks unless your name is Alex Mack. After Mack, that title might actually go to Kaluka Maiava. Maiava had utility for the Browns, playing parts of four seasons and making about 100 tackles and getting four and a half sacks. Not bad at all for a fourth rounder, really.
Maiava is currently a free agent and most recently played for the Raiders. The 28-year-old just might stay a free agent after some off-season jail time.

What I remember Maiava for is all the tackles he missed. And there were a lot of ’em.
He was one of Mangini’s draft picks – a low-talent, high-character guy. Well, at least one of those traits proved true.
What a nightmare that 2009 draft was. Almost unbelievable.
Any way you look at it he is four times better than Mingo. Mingo could not make second team CVC in football.
disagree.
I remember him being completely torn up by Kirk Cousins on about 40 Bootlegs in 1 game.
