Video: LeBron James Jr. balls outâagain
February 24, 2015Brian Spaeth on Cavs and more with @dimoko – WFNY Podcast – 2015-02-23
February 24, 2015The Cleveland Browns logo unveiling was a bit like Y2K. There was a ton of hype, but in the end, not a whole lot of excitement. Also much like Y2K, it’s a major relief for most fans of the orange and brown. In the end, the Browns changed the color of orange and updated their dawg logo in a continuation of referring to the entire Browns fan-base as the “Dawg Pound.”
The primary logo will largely remain the same, though the orange is indeed darker and the facemask has been made brown. The team’s secondary logo (pictured above) is a rebranding of the pound.
Fans of the Browns have been on edge for the last week as word trickled out surrounding the new logo for 2015. Given that the team is planning on unveiling new uniforms for the coming season, the entire re-branding efforts have been a subject of speculation for much of the last several months. The new logoâwhich will represent the teams on all broadcasts, standing graphics and moreâhas widely been considered the first step in these endeavors.
The entire logo change is documented below:
âIn redesigning our uniforms and modernizing our logos, our primary focus was honoring the Brownsâ cherished history and recognizing the transformation of Cleveland,â said Browns President Alec Scheiner via press release. âAs always, we spent significant time engaging with our fans during this process and took a very methodical approach the past two years to determine certain core characteristics symbolic of our great city. We are thrilled with how these translate in our logo and uniform and embrace the opportunity to fully share that with our fans in April.â

apparently, it took 2 years for the Browns to determine we wanted more red in our orange-hue
I’m actually disappointed. I was hoping for something new, fresh. Oh well.
Still, HAZLIM MUST GO! EVEN WHEN HE DUZ SOMETHING UNOFFENSIVE ITS OFFENSIVE!!!
I’m relieved. Love it.
Money well spent. I mean there’s “orange,” and then there’s “ORANGE.”
(Honestly, the more I think about it, the more disappointed I am. I’m sure I’m in the minority, but . . . blah. Somebody get Nike on the phone.)
A giant leap…sideways.
As we’d anticipated, the “Dawg Pound” is being positioned as a central motif in this “reboot”. The dog is slightly less offensive to the eye, but also looks like a D3 college logo
A $100,000 study was undertaken, and concluded that we did not want more red in our orange hue. It was summarily ignored
HASLUM!!!!

Perfectly stated.
Wonder how much they paid for this one. Almost like someone forgot to redesign and was reminded last night and just changed color and font. I am ok with it though could be worse.
A brown facemask?

hey, after we read through the study, we saw a homeless guy eating a tomato while holding an orange. we could not ignore facts.
So Browns. Shockingly boring. Why not just unveil the whole uniform if your hardly changing the logos? Yawn. Where’s the creativity???

Hobo R&D.
You’re mocking me aren’t you?

Big fan of the brown facemask, and the new orange isn’t terrible–and thankfully not neon, either. Since it was never going to be Brownie, I’m totally on board with this. I actually preferred the old dawg logo (we couldn’t just hit that with the new orange too?), but this new one isn’t terrible. Honestly I’m just thrilled we stayed mostly classic, which I hope remains the trend when the new unis arrive.
The worst part is the general temper tantrum going on in social media right now: “That’s it? What a letdown! Same old Browns, etc etc etc”, and largely from the same folks who were against the idea of changes to begin with. This franchise has been monumentally screwed up for 15 years, but sometimes this fan base doesn’t make it any easier. I’m glad I’m not the one having to please such an often ridiculous group, or I’d probably be a disaster as well.
No, they just realized the office printer was low on toner, they replaced it and VOILA!

Agree w/ much of this. Would like to see the Brownie treated w/ this new color scheme, and also wish they’d positioned him/it more centrally in this reboot.
I confess. Something shifted in me. I didn’t want big changes, but when I saw this, I realized I was actually hoping that they’d go all “University of Oregon” and blow the whole thing up. Guess I’m fickle.
Could’ve been worse.
Oh, we haven’t seen the uniforms yet.

You sold me completely on Brownie yesterday. I was hoping for it – like maybe just a logo of the Brownie’s sneering eye, or something.
Indeed!! Oh, before I forget, as promised, HARDCORE SANDWICH NUDITY!! đ

Yes, the Brownie has a much richer link to the franchise than the dog. But in fairness to Berea, “Dawg Pound” has a decidedly more intimidating ring to it than “Brownie Hut”
Is that fried egg on the top layer of meat? Well done.
I want you in my mouth
Not bad. If fact, I like it.

What if you make the Brownie blind and let Swagger be his seeing eye dog?
You nailed it, Scott. It’s like when the tests come back negative.
I am thrilled at the restraint the Browns showed in minimizing changes and not going all Oregon-Tampa Bay gaudy. This gives me hope that the new uniforms won’t be hideous.
The cartoon dog is probably for kids; I can’t see them using it to brand much else with it. It’s comfortably benign, and the old dog logo wasn’t very good either. Basically, I don’t care about secondary dawg art.
Good job, Browns!
Didn’t care whether they made changes. But now annoyed they made such a dramatic hush-hush build up for this reveal. So they managed to tick me off without really doing anything about a small part of what’s meaningless entertainment to begin with.
Dear Jimmy: You’re in one them Can’t Win for Losing periods. There’s nothing for you to market right now. Silence until the pre-draft pressers, please. Just send everyone home, and tell Scheiner to close his twitter account. Maybe in a couple of months we’ll be able to look at y’all again.
Almost makes you wish they’d have gone completely off the rails with the the new design.
How is this not a joke? 2 years to change the tint of the helmet one notch up on the color meter? Why even bother? Seriously, Are they high?
Just a heads up, the Browns will reveal the new uniforms on April 14.

Wait until April 14.

Not the worst but… isn’t anyone else bothered by the fact that the new, more red-orange is kinda just like the Bengals’ orange?
SPOILER: I hear we will have 4 sleeve stripes instead of 3.

Sweet!!
Feasible. But I’d prefer Brownie on a saddle riding the Dachshunds around the stadium
Great point.

I’ll be honest, the old dawg pound logo is better.
My thoughts exactly. Their uni’s are already a copy of ours to some degree. What separated ours was the tint of the helmet which I always liked more. Now the tint is the exact same.
2 years Nike. You had 2 years.
Uh-oh. My sense of serene relief lasted all of 15 minutes. And now all the red flags just popped up again. “More radical”? Don’t like the sound of that. So now they’ve set off seven more weeks of stewing and angst. Thanks for nothing.
This is going to be awful.

how about a compromise? dog sled with those Dachshunds
I have never seen that one. Is it official? When was it used?
