Nike’s “Deceptive Red” Kyrie 1 to be released this Saturday
January 5, 2015And then, there were two…
January 5, 2015The Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks will square off for the college football championship next Monday in Dallas, Texas. We now know what uniforms each team will be wearing when they meet at Jerry World to see who, in fact, is the best of the best.
Several folks have tweeted out pictures of these Nike creations, with ESPN’s Darren Rovell being first:

I’m generally anti-Oregon’s uniform choices, as I feel constant color and style changes defeat the purpose of a uniform — that is, to develop a consistent, identifiable brand and look. I realize this is an increasingly hackneyed viewpoint, as teams across college and pro sports introduce new jersey combos often, often in the name of selling more merchandise.
That said, I’m a fan of the Ducks’ clean white-and-silver look. It brings the Miami Heat’s “White Hot” set to mind, and I mean that as a compliment. It is a bit strange that neither green nor yellow are represented, but Oregon (and, perhaps more importantly, Nike) has long sought to break the mold with their attire.
Ohio State elected to go with a more classic look. It is a slight deviation from the norm, with black numerals on the shoulder to honor the 1968 championship team, but even the most casual college football fan would require just one glance to know that those are Buckeye uniforms.
If nothing else, we know that both teams will be looking good as they battle in the inaugural championship game decided by a playoff. We’ll be pulling, however, for the Buckeyes to win more than the fashion show.

That’s the least offensive Duck uniform we’ve seen in a long time. I wonder why the lower-seeded team gets to wear the home uniform. I can only guess that Oregon got their choice and went with the white. So be it.
I’m very glad they didn’t mess with the Bucks uniform. How can you promote your “brand” when it changes all the time? It’s sad to see marketing types being given so much influence in athletic department matters.
I hope that the Buckeyes take affront to the fact that Oregon is attempting to take grayish silver in the uniforms as their own.
Seriously though, it’s dumb for Oregon to not have any green in their uniform. If they want all-whites, then they already had a great set. But, they have to continually have “new,” which I get is their schtick, but that does not make it less annoying.

If I saw Oregon in those uniforms on TV and didn’t know it who it was, no way would I say it is Oregon.
I like those Oregon unis. They’ll show Ezekiel’s cleat marks, and scuff marks from Cardale’s helmet and jersey, really well. Smart move.
Agree. Those uniforms really should have some green, and yellow, in them in order to denote the role that they are supposed to play in the game on Monday night.

Black numbers?
Nod to the 68 team that won it all and led by Sophmores similar to this team.
Guess Oregon figured none of their fans will be at the game anyways, so who cares what they are wearing.
We all know the bucks will crush the ducks
I’m ok with this variation on the Buckeyes look. But I’m still terrified of what the swoosh has in store for the new Browns unis.
I’m resigned to them being the 2015 Oklahoma State bowl uniform with their color of orange and replacing the black with a dark brown (and removing the cowboy decal on the helmet).
at least we’d get back the orange pants I guess.

Older but still valid.
College football is the most boring sport on earth. After the Penn State scandal I can’t watch any of it.
To quote user “CC” on ElevenWarriors, “…and they even had the foresight to put the score on them.”
Can anybody say ugly? Nike needs a new designer. I think this guy is color blind. As in he doesn’t see color.
