January 9, 2015Ohio State Buckeye fans still holding out to get the best ticket deals possible to Monday’s College Football Championship Game are in luck – prices keep tumbling on the secondary market just three days prior to the inaugural title game in Arlington.
National Championship Game tickets on TiqIQ now average $904.48, which makes Monday’s game the cheapest championship game in at least the last five years. Such a downward spiral has seen prices decrease 19.2% since Monday and more than 45% since New Year’s Eve, when the game saw a secondary average of $1,650. Next week’s matchup at AT&T Stadium is now cheaper than last year’s BCS Championship Game between Florida State and Auburn at the Rose Bowl, which owned a $907.48 average on the secondary market.
The cheapest seat to Monday’s game is listed at $279, which is down 11.1% from yesterday’s get-in price of $314. With prices falling across the board, this year’s least expensive seat is now 31.9% cheaper than the BCS Championship Game’s get-in price of $410 last year.

The falling secondary ticket prices will give the traveling fan some added cushioning when searching for accommodations in the Dallas area as well. Columbus is roughly 1,060 miles away from Arlington, but no distance is too far for Buckeyes fans looking to witness Ohio State’s first appearance in a championship game since 2007.
Monday’s title game won’t be the first matchup Ohio State enters as the underdog this year. The team has led a spirited push past Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game and upset Alabama in the Sugar Bowl Game on New Year’s Day.
With prices continuing to fall on the secondary market, fans still in need of tickets may find that, as far as pricing goes, the later they wait, the better deals they’ll get.
