November 16, 2014Cleveland Browns safety Tashaun Gipson and Houston Texans rookie linebacker Jadeveon Clowney are among the notable players on the active list for Sunday’s game in Cleveland.
After being sidelined most of the week with a concussion, Gipson is active and will start. The NFL’s leader with six interceptions, he suffered the concussion in last Thursday’s dominant victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. The 24-year-old has four picks in the last five games.
Clowney, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, has played in only two games this season, week 1 against Washington and week 8 against Tennessee. He is expected to play mostly in third down and passing situations, as he did against the Titans when he participated in 32 of 61 defensive snaps.
Meanwhile, the list of Browns inactives includes: WR Rodney Smith, DB Johnson Bademosi, DB Pierre Desir, RB Glenn Winston, OL Vinston Painter, TE Jordan Cameron and LB Keith Pough. The biggest notable absence is Cameron, as expected, as he has missed the last two games with a concussion. Jim Dray will continue to start at tight end in his place. Billy Winn is starting for Phil Taylor, who was placed on injured reserve.
Browns running back Ben Tate also earned a bonus for being active in today’s game:

The inactives for the Texans include: RB Arian Foster, CB Kareem Jackson, QB Tom Savage, WR DeVier Posey, LB Max Bullough, S Josh Aubrey and T Jeff Adams. That Foster is missing the game was reported earlier in the week and is a big hit to Houston’s offense, now led by Ryan Mallett. Rookie Alfred Blue will get the bulk of the team’s carries in his place. Brian Cushing, another very talented linebacker, also returns to action today after missing the past two games with knee soreness.
