September 12, 2014Antonio Brown produced the most viral highlight of the NFL’s opening weekend when he kicked Browns punter Spencer Lanning in the face. Brown was flagged on the play and assessed a 15-yard penalty. Now, the Steelers’ star has been fined as well.
According to a report by the NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport Brown has received an $8,200 fine for the not-so-sweet chin music he delivered to the facemask of Lanning.
It’s clear that Brown took to the air attempting to hurdle Lanning, in anticipation of the Browns punter going low for the tackle, but while airborne his foot seemed to accelerate into Lanning’s face as if he were flying off the top rope on a broadcast of Monday Night Raw. The incident was no doubt in part a result of unfortunate circumstances but the acceleration of Brown’s leg seemed excessive and begs the question if the punishment was strict enough.
After the game, Antonio Brown claimed that he and Lanning hugged it out and laughed at the incident, a story which according to FSO’s Zac Jackson says never happened.
Browns punter Spencer Lanning said he did not talk to Antonio Brown after the game and said Brown was lying yesterday when he said they did

Lanning said he looked for Brown, did not find him. "I don't know why he would say that."

After initially making light of the situation on twitter, Lanning has since deleted Twitter from his phone to save himself from all the comments and trolls.
Wait, wait, wait…

Was a 15 yard penalty and $8200 an appropriate punishment for Antonio Brown’s face kick? What do you think?

I am SO tired of watching the Browns get beat up by the steelers on the field. Hey, at least the got flagged this time though
I agree with you so it was super sweet to the Steelers get jobbed in Baltimore last night 🙂
Considering his original intent was not to kick the guy in the face, but more of a mid-air ‘stiff-leg’ attempt that just happened, the punishment seems to fit the crime. The lying about talking to Lanning piece, though, is weird.
He’ll poke your eye out!
Take two
[Edit: Screw it. Anybody got a gif of Santa giving Ralphie the boot?]
It was nice Brown got put out in Baltimore. Can’t wait to play Brown again. C-Town needs to defend their brother. Cheap shot and on purpose. He could’ve seriously hurt Lanning. Id have payed him a visit and brought some of his teeth to the toothfairy. He’s a punk. Karmas coming Tony Brown. needs to be a greater punishment. Should have been EJECTED! and fined what an ejection warrants.
lol on the “at least they got flagged this time though” How true. How true.
well, someone woke up on the wrong side of the fire pit today.
