Craving Cupcakes: On Ohio State’s Scheduling
September 27, 2013WFNY Stats & Info: Indians playoff odds before the weekend
September 27, 2013In week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns DE-turned-LB Jabaal Sheard was having yet another strong game before having to leave with a leg injury. Now his sprained knee may not only keep him out of week 4’s matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, but it could also see him missing a couple weeks.
From the AP’s Tom Withers:
#Browns LB Jabaal Sheard not on field. He's likely to miss Sunday and maybe several weeks.

With Sheard likely missing the Bengals game, Browns rookie LB Barkevious Mingo could make his first NFL start. Sheard has 13 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble on the season. Mingo comes in with 6 tackles and 2 sacks.
Withers also reported that QB Brandon Weeden, LB Quentin Groves, and DL Billy Winn are all out for Week 4 as well.

Loving that Mingo will be on the field more….hating that both Sheard and Groves are gone from our depth. This is such a big statement game for this team in terms of what we can expect moving forward…..hate to go into it without some big pieces.
Hate it for Sheard – he was a beast for 30 minutes last week, but this is okay. DL is one place we have depth, and if Sheard can fully recover, we’ll have his beastness for the rest of the year – maybe even a little fresher than he would be otherwise. Good time for the rookie to gain experience.
Go get ’em, Barkevious.
Yep… the Browns need Paul Hazel to be able to spell Mingo and Kruger, though… he needs to be hungry and give some good minutes.
No doubt, but this is one instance where having the D coordinator that we do will really pay off. I have complete confidence in Horton.
Tigers aren’t used to being hunted, but I think that’s only because it’s rare to find a Mingo in the jungle.
