🙂
So did you go see J Roddy?
I thought I’d comment on this because I got a bit confused with the call dropping and I sort of avoided the topic, but I had some time to think about it over the weekend (chipping away at plaster with a masonry chisel makes for plenty of time to think about things) and here are my thoughts, in case anybody cares:
Re: fear of physical violence (and Craig’s bullet point, which I just noticed while typing this out) — as I understand it (and I can only understand my own experience as a male), women generally have a greater sense of fear of physical violence. And is deserved, as it is borne out of years and years (and ongoing!) of history of violence against women — which is a terrible, terrible thing.
In the hyper-narrow context of being worried about bar fights, I agree that men may carry a bit more of a fear of getting in a bar fight. But overall, women have to deal with a far more persistent fear of violence than men do, and nobody should ever confuse being worried about a bar fight with being worried about the violence that women are subjected to.
Nope I totally didn’t. Unfortunately I’m lame. But I am here… So that’s something.
