July 24, 2013The Cleveland Browns today added a pair of free agents with camp starting tomorrow.
On the heels of Norv Turner’s admission Tuesday that the team will carry a traditional fullback, the Browns signed FB Brock Bolen to compete with Owen Marecic.
In addition, the team signed LB Justin Cole. To make room, the Browns waived OL Dominic Alford and WR Kennan Davis.
Here is the information from the team.
“Bolen, a 6-0, 232-pound fullback in his fourth NFL season out of Louisville, has appeared in 20 NFL games, all with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Throughout his career, he has two rushing attempts for 14 yards and three receptions for 21 yards, and has registered 16 special-teams tackles.
An undrafted free agent, Bolen initially signed with the Jaguars in 2009. He spent the entire 2012 season on injured reserve.
A native of Germantown, Ohio, Bolen graduated from Valley View High School. He will wear No. 38.
Cole, a 6-3, 243-pound linebacker in his third NFL season out of San Jose State, has appeared in 20 NFL games, all with the St. Louis Rams. He has totaled two career tackles on defense and seven stops on special teams.
An undrafted free agent, Cole initially signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2010 and spent five weeks on the Chiefs’ practice squad his rookie season. He appeared in four contests with the Rams in 2011, before appearing in all 16 games last season.
A native of Pasadena, Calif., Cole graduated from Chino Hills High School. He will wear No. 41.”

ABM – Anybody But Marecic.
A FB named Brock. I can get dig it
Super bowl!
If I recall, Bolen tore us up last season.
What happened to Smelly? Did he get cut?
So did AJ Green can I have him instead? 😉
Still there.
This is most assuredly a notice to Marecic. Looks like the Browns are saying it’s going to be one of these two guys (Smelley or Bolen). Marecic may have been expecting the “you got cut” note on his locker when he walked in this morning.
OK cool. I guess I could’ve looked at their roster, but I’m too lazy for that.
I’m only so motivated. Checking the roster is all I’m willing to do. My laziness otherwise has free rein.
This is pathetic. There is somebody that is familiar with Coach Chud who played for him in 2007 when Chud was Offense Coordinator when the Browns went 10-6 who waiting for that phone call, And we all his name.
JoeJ’s knees are shot though.
Maybe we should slip him the note, Dorn style, so he freaks out and starts acting like a FB
…I think someone’s been having a little fun with you
As long as they don’t give Brock the rock
