Grantland ranks Joe Thomas 21st most valuable, Haden 37th
July 24, 2013Cleveland Browns sign two free agents on eve of training camp
July 24, 2013Cleveland Browns CEO Joe Banner said on Wednesday that improvements to the game day experience are forthcoming. There will be a press conference soon to unveil all of those changes. Until then, Banner said that fans can expect a cleaner stadium. The bathrooms will be cleaner. They are being painted team colors instead of the white that they previously were which showed more dirt. There will be more attention to things like the emptying of trash cans in the concourse.
In addition, Banner confirmed that the Browns have hired an architect and contractor to put a plan in place for stadium improvements. These improvements will likely be done in two phases. The first phase will begin in January after the season is over.
“Presuming we do the project, which is very likely, but not absolutely definite, we will start construction this January.”
Banner said it will be another two months likely before they know exactly what the scope of that first phase will be and what components will be included. The second phase would take place in the off season following the 2014 season.
Banner, answering a direct question said, “Your cell phones will work.”
When pressed about some of the possible changes to the stadium including the use of field turf, Banner said that “our strong inclination is to play football outdoors on a grass field. It’s something we have talked about and continue to review, so it could change but I think we have a strong inclination to do it that way.”
Sorry, no comments were made about the wiener dog races.

“The bathrooms will be cleaner…” The Pilot/Flying J promise!
“The bathrooms will be cleaner. They are being painted team colors
instead of the white that they previously were which showed more dirt.”
So, the bathrooms will have the illusion of being cleaner because of the paint. This is like still having the trough urinal, but making you walk through individual doors to get to it (with no divider inside the doors).
mg, you’re such a cynic.
So Banner’s not planning on the Browns making the playoffs I take it?
I believe conference championships are on 1/19/14, so unless they’re hosting the Superbowl and I didn’t hear about it, construction can begin in January.
First things first let them paint the bathrooms and get those Dachshunds and new pyrotechnics going. It’s called priorities! 😉
Let the brown out continue!!!!!
Whoa – “Cleaner” what an upgrade! But will there be potpourri?
The only stadium experience I will ever give a crap about is the experience of watching the Browns walk off the field winners. Everything else just feels like a distraction from the losing at this point.
