Michael Lombardi on Browns: “I haven’t talked to anybody”
December 11, 2012Flashbacks: Antawn Jamison returns to Cleveland
December 11, 2012In what may have been a major gaffe, Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon says that his team will have Kirk Cousins starting against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday.
“We have a little bit of a tougher task — we have Kirk [Cousins] starting,” Garcon said on ESPN’s SportsCenter. “We have to play well around Kirk so he doens’t feel like he has to save the team. We have to help him be as comfortable as possible.”
Washington’s typical starting quarterback Robert Griffin III was injured late in last Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Griffin underwent an MRI which revealed no structural damage to his knee, but has not been cleared to practice yet this week. Bram Weinstein attempted to save Garcon who may have let the cat out of the bag, at which point the receiver referred to his reserve quarterback as “the worst.”

Garcon saying “We have to prepare for the worst” I do not think really translates to Garcon calling Cousin’s “the worst”…
Either way, this shouldn’t really affect anything, right? I mean, the Browns have to prepare for RG3 regardless. Who knows, maybe Garcon knew exactly what he was doing and is just tossing up misinformation 😛
I wouldn’t expect that Garcon could know if RGIII is out unless this is a long-term injury. Players generally get Monday off, so unless Shanahan just told RGIII that no matter what happens he is sitting out and he relayed that to Pierre, then this is likely just a slip. But, in a “Shanahan is telling us to prepare as if Cousins is starting and if RGIII is ready, then great” type of way.
Don’t listen to him. Of course he will say Cousins is starting, it just adds more fuel to this Superhero figure that they are building in DC. Im getting sick of the whole Redskins organization. My friend is a fan, and when they were bad like us, they were easy to root for, but now all of their players are sounding cockier and cockier, yet they still want to be the underdogs. Can’t be both.
We need to prepare as though RG3 will play, get after him, and not lose containment when he runs. He is a great player, but he is most definitely beatable. I want this Win so damn bad.
somewhere Eric Mangini is smiling. It’s either Spy v. Spy or Dumb and Dumber. No one knows …
Garcon is a true man of the people, throwing us a bone during fantasy football playoffs like that.
IT’S A TRAP!
I’m just not buying it… if RG3 truly has a grade 1 sprain, then I think he’s going to play. The Redskins are right in the thick of the playoff hunt and I don’t think a pack of wild dogs could tear Griffin away from the huddle.
well, we’ll see about that. we have a pack of wild Dawgs in Rubin/Taylor/Sheard/Hughes/Winn/Rucker/Parker that will do what they can. legally, but, on a bad knee, it’s a dangerous thing to risk.
It’s been a long time since I have looked forward to a Browns game as much as this one. Everyone outside of Cleveland already has this penciled in as a win for the Skins…like they’re some kind of juggernaut or something. It’s annoying.
