Chris Mortenson reporting deal with NFL referees is “at hand”
September 26, 2012Weeden, Browns trying to maintain positive locker room despite outside negativity
September 26, 2012The task of beating a more talented divisional opponent won’t be any easier for the Browns now that Mohamed Massaquoi has officially been ruled out of the game. Earlier this week the Browns seemed at least somewhat hopeful that Massaquoi would be available. Or maybe they wanted the Ravens to think they were hopeful. Either way, he is now out.
Additionally, the Browns will have to play another game without Alex Smith who suffered a concussion somewhere along the line. Most Browns fans weren’t all that excited for the Alex Smith era in Cleveland, and certainly his career as recipient of hand-offs isn’t all that glorious, but there’s just no doubting the Browns miss his blocking and surprisingly good hands. You wouldn’t want to overrate a player like Smith, but he’s become something of an indispensable role player for the Browns.
The absence of these two players should mean additional reps for Jordan Cameron at tight end and Josh Cribbs plus maybe Jordan Norwood at wide receiver. Cribbs has appeared sparingly on offense so far this season and Norwood has been inactive for all regular season action through three games.

more time for cameron is a good thing, in my opinion
call me crazy, but this seems like the classic “overlooked” game for the Ravens. A short week coming off a last second win against the Patriots, and no one gives the Browns a chance. The only thing we are missing is if they had a big game coming up after us (e.g.-a division game vs the Steelers). Their run defense isn’t what it once was, and Ed Reed was hobbled for a time during he Pats game.
I think we have a puncher’s chance, at least
I really liked what I saw from Cameron in the preseason and last week.
I’d love to see Norwood get more looks, too. Our receiver play this season has obviously been a disappointment, so I think it’s worth giving another promising young talent a shot to prove himself.
i’ve got a fever, and the only cure is MORE CAMERON!
As Red Foreman would say, “Eric, don’t be a dumbass.”
The best thing the Browns could do is to cancel their flight and hotel reservations in B’more, forfeit the game, and take the weekend off to practice and get healthy. If the Browns do go to B’more the Ravens are going to beat them like a rented mule.
Mannnnnn… I forgot the Browns played tonight. Now I gotta be up late & pissed off.
Sad that is the mentality of a browns fan, but entirely true
Massacre I mean Massaquoi is this teams Travis Hafner.
Hafner had 3 elite years
He’s more like this teams Larry Hughes
