New E-graphs Service Compares Ubaldo to Bob Feller
September 6, 2012Pat Shurmur on Josh Gordon; Trent Richardson
September 6, 2012First of all, I send out my condolences to his family. I’ve known his son David since he was a little boy. I have a lot of respect for Art. I always considered him a friend. He was a great visionary for the game of football. He should be in the Hall of Fame. […] It was very tragic how he broke the heart of Cleveland fans, but that’s the reality and nothing can be done about it. We had our differences. I was fighting him all the time because of racial issues going on at that time. But overall, you could talk to him and reason with him. We all have to respect differences if you can relate and deal with your logic and deal with someone else’s.

Sorry, Jim, these days when Clevelanders want the unsolicited opinions of jocks on issues of the day we turn to Chris Perez.
Don’t worry and keep your cellie charged – you know someone will call you after Trent Richardson’s first game.
Funny you should mention that, Harv. Perez just tweeted that Cleveland fans deserved to lose their football team back then because they’re such spoiled, ungrateful dirtbags.
Well, okay, he didn’t.
Yet.
Had this nightmare where JB and Perez sit at an anchor desk and take turns telling us what they think about random things, like that Applegate dude at the end of the WUAB news. Or maybe it wasn’t a dream.
Why does Jim Brown hate Cleveland?
I wrote this on Facebook, but will share it here too:
The endless praise for Art Modell on national TV and radio has made me move to local radio today for my sports news. I don’t want to hear about Modell getting into the Hall of Fame. He’s lucky he wasn’t tarred and feathered for moving the Browns to Baltimore. If you want to honor a man for being a great guy, a wonderful family man… okay I get that and I support that. But do not honor Art Modell for his NFL tenure. That’s a kick in the face to everyone who loves the Orange and Brown. His moving the team was an entirely selfish move and when you own an NFL team, you have an obligation not just to your own personal interests, but to the community that pays you and supports you. The team was not named the Modell Browns, it’s the Cleveland Browns. Modell had the opportunity to sell the team and get out of financial trouble to his pal Al Lerner, but he chose to move the team to Baltimore to try his luck there with a new stadium. He ended up having to sell the team anyway, but not until he robbed the city of Cleveland of a Super Bowl and multiple years of playoff contention.
I don’t know Art Modell. I don’t know a thing about him, but I equate it like this… he’s the stranger who comes and takes a dump on your doorstep. You don’t know a thing about him… he might be crazy, he might be sick, he might have done it maliciously… you just don’t know. All you have is a turd on your porch and your ire for the person who left it.
He was a great visionary for the game of football. He should be in the Hall of Fame. It was very tragic how he broke the heart of Cleveland fans, but that’s the reality and nothing can be done about it.
Yes, and Hitler had that unfortunate “holocaust” incident, but hey, what can you do?
Art Modell should never be in the NFL Hall of Fame.
Why is EVERYTHING a racial issue with Jim Brown… jeez, give it a rest
I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you’re not black. Jim Brown was born a human being like the rest of us, it was supremacist white people that tried to make him feel inferior because of his skin color. If you watched the RNC last week you know racism is still alive and well in 2012. Accepted attitudes in the 60s were even more disgusting.
I just heard a clip of Jim “one monkey don’t stop the show” Brown saying that it was HE to talked Modell into leaving the colors/records. Well, with the passing of Modell, all I can say is “one down, one to go”. Yep, I am talking to you, Jimbo…get your affairs in order.
thanks, i got a good chuckle out of that.
riiiiiiiiight….
um… ok.
I’m not gonna get all political… but I would like to point out that Condelezza Rice is, um.. black. Seriously. And she’s a Browns fan!
