Hoopsworld: Tristan Thompson Primed for Breakout
August 30, 2012What Kind of Identity are the Browns Building?
August 30, 2012The WFNY Podcast makes a triumphant return. The opening is absolutely ridiculous now, as you’ll hear. The highlight clips have LeBron and Braylon Edwards! This is the last time you’ll hear it, but we thought it would be funny to play it one last time.
As for the rest, we’re Browns heavy. Topics include:
- Rick hates Colt McCoy talk
- 4th pre-season game pointlessness
- Discontinuing “The Browns Will Win If…” on WFNY
- How to critique the Browns
- Pat Shurmur’s 2012 job tryout
Enjoy!

Sounds good! Will there be an RSS Feed for the podcasts?
Hit the nail on the head about McCoy (give it up people… Weeden is starting and you need to give him at least half a season to show something before you start whining). Also, there’s zero point in playing Weeden for 2 series against the Bears. Is it better for him to have to prepare for the Bears defense for 2 freaking series, or is it better for Weeden to keep his concentration on the Philadelphia Eagles and get ready to see them again?
That’s the point I mentioned with the scheduling SNAFU. I just hope we’re not FUBAR this season. I foresee the Browns using the nickel package quite frequently this season to 1. cover up the lack of LB depth and 2. have our somewhat deep secondary out there more often (best 11 defenders out there theory, nickel seems like the most viable route).
This should work I think.

You know, that’s a good point. And honestly, with so many teams running multiple wide receiver sets and putting a priority on passing, you would think that the nickel would become the primary defense for most teams anyway. Would we not be better off running Sheldon Brown as the inside CB in a nickel package where Skrine or Wade are the outside CB opposite Haden rather than trying to run with Maiava as the WOLB?
