WR Corey Brown on Coach Urban Meyer’s Offense
August 27, 2012Box Score: Indians 0, A’s 3
August 27, 2012The Browns had to cut the roster down to 75 today. After yesterday’s cuts, which were offense heavy, we expected to see some defensive players let loose today.
The players asked to bring the playbook to the coach’s office were Marcus Benard, Auston English, and Antwuan Reed. Additionally, Chris Gocong and Emmanuel Acho were put on IR with Phil Taylor being placed on the PUP list.
Additionally the Browns were awarded defensive lineman Ernest Owusu off of waivers from the Minnesota Vikings. He is a 6’4″ defensive end out of California. He was an undrafted free agent in camp with the Vikings. At Cal’s pro day the 277 pounder registered a 40 time in the high 4.7s which turned a few heads.

Benard?

Is it Benard or Bernard?
and the spirit of Jaymie Mitchell lives on in Owusu
Patriots cut WR Jabar Gaffney he’d be someone I’d take a look at if I were in charge. Veteran who put together some solid seasons the past few years in Denver and New England. Little and Gordon need a fellow WR with experience.
Maybe this is blasphemous, but I’d rather have Gaffney on the team and cut Cribbs. Gaffney is the better WR and would give us the veteran qualities you mentioned. Cribbs is no longer an elite return man in my opinion, so I’d rather his spot go to a veteran wideout.
Not blasphemous to me I was never a blind follower of Cribbs BUT there has to be someone else they could cut in favor of Gaffney. Norwood or Mr. Cuncussion Massaquoi come to immediate mind.
The time is nearing when a decision on Cribbs will need to be made and personally unless he rediscovers some special teams magic I think his time is nearing an end. It’s a shame his talents were wasted all of those years.
