MLB Trade Deadline: The Cost of the “Wait and See” Approach
July 19, 2012Report: Lakers’ Bynum has had no Discussions with Cavs
July 19, 2012The Cleveland Browns announced today that WR Josh Gordon, selected by the Browns in the supplemental draft, will wear jersey number 86.
Other Browns who have worn number 86 include Dante Lavelli, Gary Collins, Brian Brennan and Dennis Northcutt. Let’s hope the young receiver has a career more like Collins or Brennan than Northcutt.

Still mad at Northcutt for dropping that pass.
You know which one.
That game was on NFL network over the weekend. I didn’t remember that Anthony Henry dropped a game-sealing interception with a few minutes left in the 4th quarter. Painful.
everyone knows
The Henry drop was almost worse than the DN drop… Henry had better hands than Dennis Northdrop.
It is (not) funny how many bad moments where plays should have been made and were not, which is why we have been shutout since ’64
The tension is finally broken.
Brian Brennan….one of my favs as a kid. Mr. 3rd down.
Super Bowl!
Is it bad that the best one I remember from all those people is Northcutt? Mind you, I’m in my mid-20s…
If Ohio State hadn’t beaten Miami to win the National Title a week earlier, I may have jumped off the 480 bridge after that game. Probably the most painful loss of the Browns expansion era (and there have been many losses).
A pie in the sky prediction/wish list (Brian Brennan got me thinking about this…he used to go to my church as a kid, by the way. It was awesome):
-Flash Gordon wears 86 this year
-McCoy gets traded this year, which opens up #12
-Flash trades in 86 next year for 12
-Cleveland picks up Wes Welker next year (who small stature and sure hands are similar to Brian Brennan’s).
-Welker becomes receiving corps mentor on how to win
-We celebrate when we win the 2014 Super Bowl
A couple other notable 86s were Dub Jones (1948-51) and a tough linebacker we got from the Raiders named Gerald Irons (1976-79).
Brian Brennan was the man. That guy cant be any bigger than Wes Welker, yet would fearlessly cross the middle and his hands were steel traps. That guy was tough. Always one of my favorites.
