July 25, 2012NBA Trade News: Cavaliers Acquire PG Jeremy Pargo
July 25, 2012Less than 24 hours after bunting in the game-winning RBI, Aaron Cunningham has been designated for assignment by the Cleveland Indians to make room for the recently acquired Brent Lillibridge.
Cunningham, during Tuesday’s post-game media scrum, lightly plead his case to remain with the Indians, stating that he would continue to do anything that is asked of him. Unfortunately, being out of options, he will be asked to take a few games off where he could ultimately land back in Columbus if the cards fall right.
On December 16, 2011, Cunningham was traded to the Indians for minor league pitcher Cory Burns. The 26-year-old Cunningham, largely used as a late-game defensive replacement for either Shelley Duncan or Johnny Damon, hit .175 through 72 games (95 at-bats), hitting one home run, driving in seven runs and striking out 25 times.

Good riddance, he was awful
and yet had better numbers than Lillibridge this year.
Normally, I’d be happy to hear news that a .175 hitting bum was finally reassigned…except in this case, he’s being replaced by a .165 hitting bum. Let’s hope more positive trade news to come…
At least he went out in a flicker of glory.
if the White Sox get Greinke, then I may have to re-think how I spend my summer nights
I was there the game against Tampa July 5th when he gunned down the runner at 2nd to quite possibly save the game. I’ll remember that. Thanks mr Cunningham.
Less than 24 hours after driving in his 7th RBI in 72 games…
Trade Asdrubal now, please…
49-23 in those 72 games.
That stat is going to be massively skewed since many of his appearances were coming on late for defense when the Tribe had the lead…
Are you Cunningham’s dad or brother? uncle?
I am not totally against this. He is getting fat and makes a lot of errors. Not been a force at the plate either…remind you of someone (Jhonny)
I watched him go 0-6 in Baltimore on June 30…haha I will always remember him for that. Making 6 of 27 outs in a game
