OSU’s Jared Sullinger Not Invited to NBA Draft Green Room
June 25, 2012Box Score: Indians 1, Yankees 7
June 25, 2012Troy Smith is available again to any NFL team according to a Twitter post by @steelers.
And so ends a strange (non) tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers for Troy Smith. It was just this past January when the Steelers signed the Clevelander and former Buckeye quarterback. A few days more than six months later, he has been cut.
This is relatively meaningless from a Cleveland Browns standpoint. It’s hard to imagine that a Troy Smith tenure in Cleveland would be much more than a sentimental event for the cross-section of Browns fans who are also Buckeye fans.

Still to this day he is one of my favorite buckeyes. He willed us to victory on several occasions. Too bad it never worked out for him in the pros. He was given a couple legitimate chances as well.
excellent! we can grab him as penance for not drafting him as some of the more strident Buckeye fans wanted. And maybe give Maurice Clarett a little look-see.
Troy got off to a bad start in the NFL when he got sick with something, I’m not sure what, and he lost a significant amount of weight and important time on the field. I’m not saying he would have been spectacular if those things hadn’t happened, but I suppose we’ll never know. It’s a bummer he hasn’t gotten back to his old self. His arm was fantastic.
Just a matter of time until Buckeye fans start the whole “we need to get this guy” talk, just like they’ve been saying for the past two years about Pryor.
Pretty sure all Buckeyes fans hate Terrell Pryor, in case you stopped exposing yourself to national media the last 2 years.
Well the sickness definitely affected his career as he got sick when the 1st string QB went down with injury. Troy was set to start, got sick, Flacco got the start and the rest was history. Flacco isn’t terrific, he’s just good enough to let the Ravens D and run game take him where he needs to go. Hard to imagine Smith not being good enough for that, at least.
