May 14, 2012The Cleveland Browns made a series of roster moves on Monday afternoon, cutting running back Armond Smith and signing Toledo rusher Adonis Thomas. Smith’s distinguished Browns career comes to close with three carries for two yards in three games last season.
Thomas attended this past weekend’s rookie minicamp on a tryout and apparently impressed the powers that be which led to Monday’s signing. He rushed for over 1,000 yards the past two seasons playing for the Rockets in the MAC. In addition to Thomas, the Browns also signed JoJo Dickson, a linebacker from Idaho who’s been signed and waived twice by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

good. if Armond Smith couldn’t get carries on our team last year with our depleted RB corps, then we might as well give someone else a shot.
Of anyone from Toledo to take, we don’t pick up UDFA WR Eric Page? Dude would have set the NCAA reception record had he not declared early. Instead of upgrading our WR corps(e), he goes to Denver with the “disappointing” Superbowl winning Manning.
He of the 5’10” (generous) 180lb variety? No thanks. Setting NCAA records sometimes does not translate to NFL. See: McCoy, Colt. (Winninest QB in NCAA history at the time he was drafted.)
adonis thomas was a pretty darn good back for a pretty darn good toledo team. says here he ran a sub 4.4 40 somewhere.
Cleveland got a steal with this pick-up…check out his his youtube highlights! I live in Toledo and have watched him the past 3 seasons, he can play in the NFL. Great change of pace running back for Richardson with awesome speed and burst, plus he makes tacklers miss and never fumbles. Fantastic catching the football and yac yards. I think the only reason he wasn’t taken in the draft is size…he will not disappoint.
