Pick #247: Browns Select TE Brad Smelley
April 28, 2012Report: Browns sign UDFA Andrew Sweat
April 28, 2012According to a report by NE Patriots Draft.com, and a congratulatory tweet by Brendon Weeden’s wife, the Browns have signed Oklahoma State WR Josh Cooper.
From NFL.com’s combine reports–
“Strengths: Cooper knows how to play to his strengths and get open, even when blanketed, by using his footwork and craftiness to get a small step and make the tough catch. He is a strong route runner who can create plays for himself as well, and should look to work out of the slot at the next level. He is a reliable option in the short running game.
Weaknesses: Cooper does not have much long speed and is only a short to intermediate threat. He can struggle separating at times and could be considered a product of a highly effective offensive scheme with a good quarterback. He does not have the natural ability to get on top of or separate easily from NFL defensive backs.”
Team President Mike Holmgren and Head Coach Pat Shurmur anticipated that the Browns would seek to sign around 15 undrafted free agents.
