Getting to know your new Cleveland Browns: Brandon Weeden
April 30, 2012A few additional Browns post-draft thoughts
April 30, 2012It is official. Johnny Damon will join the big league club on Tuesday-
“The Indians will have some help blowing into the Windy City this week. Veteran outfielder Johnny Damon will join the club for its upcoming road series against the White Sox.
Damon has spent the bulk of the past two weeks training at the Tribe’s complex in Goodyear, Ariz., but he will have a locker awaiting him at U.S. Cellular Field on Tuesday, when the Indians open a three-game set.
When the Indians officially add Damon to the Major League roster, the team will need to make a subsequent transaction to clear room.”
Whether Damon plays on Tuesday night will of course be up to manager Manny Acta. With Shelley Duncan batting .147 in his last ten games, and the possibility of Choo returning as well, Damon could find himself in left field in his Tribe debut. Damon will wear uniform number 33.
Leading candidates to be sent down include Aaron Cunningham and Jose Lopez.

Send Cunningham down. Glad he is wearing 33 not 22!!!!
Cunningham has yet to excite me.
I say keep Cunningham for now since he can play all 3 outfield positions and has decent speed. Lopez would be my odd man out.
Cunningham can’t just be sent down, he would have to be DFAed. No options left.
He hits low 200s, is 4 for 8 in SB for career (392 AB), 6 career HR, fielding percentage is good but where is the pop? Why not used Donald in OF if needed.
The Indians are in 1st place! Mein Gott you people depress me…
sweet. we can just plug Richardson in there as a pinch runner now, right?
Good question, I guess that idea fell through.
Neither Cunningham or Lopez can hit but at least Cunningham is a competent outfielder who can play 3 positions, and while hes not a base stealer he can be used as a pinch runner. His speed is decent enough. Lopez hits for some power but not enough to make up for his other deficiencies.
Not saying Cunningham is good, only saying that he’s the least worst option. If we kick him loose then we’re left with Duncan as our only backup outfielder.
Lopez can hit and we are getting Damon for a bat. Did any of you pay attention to spring training? Cunningham is a generic outfielder. Easily replaced. Not an ex all star like Lopez
