NFL Draft: Browns Acquire No. 3 Pick from Vikings
April 26, 20122012 NFL Draft: Cleveland Browns Select QB Brandon Weeden
April 26, 2012The Cleveland Browns traded with the Minnesota Vikings in order to get it done. In the end, they just needed to trade a bit extra to ensure they got their guy. Their guy turns out to be Trent Richardson, the No. 1 running back on the board out of Alabama.
Richardson shouldn’t be unfamiliar to Browns fans. We’ve been talking about him ever since the team failed to trade for RG3.
So Trent is the guy. The Browns have a guy to hand the ball to this upcoming season even with the departure of Peyton Hillis.
They may have needed a trade to make sure they kept Richardson away from teams like Tampa Bay, but there’s no doubting one thing. The Cleveland Browns got the guy they wanted.
Barring any trades or other moves, the Cleveland Browns have a bit of a wait until they get to pick again at No. 22 with Atlanta’s first round pick.

ok. let’s go, kid.
Welcome to Cleveland, Trent! (We have a weapon on offense…WOOHOO!!!)
Good pick.
Instant offensive upgrade. No complaints.
No hard feelings here. One of the 2 guys I wanted. essentially all we gave up was the 4th to swap. I’m game.
AND HE’S A FAMILY MAN B/C HE HAS 2 KIDS!
If Jim brown is right, will ‘ordinary’ Trent get us to an ordinary .500 8-8 record?
What did we trade?
The trade was a little steep, but it was more of a defensive move to keep other teams from getting our guy more than anything. If Heckert loved him, you have to do it.
crazy trades. they just keep coming. i love the rookie cap.
anytime you can do the opposite of what Jim Brown says, you have just got to do it. even if it costs you 3 low round picks.
ATL’s 4th + 5th + 7th
Chuck Norris looks ordinary to Jim Brown.
Like it.
If you are angry..go talk to a Rams fans….yeesh.
As goofy as trading up one spot may seem, I’m going to show some faith in H&H. If they knew Richardson was our guy, go get him and don’t let somebody snake him away.
And considering the apparent willingness to make crazy trades, being sure seemed like the smart move.
All right, here we go. Hoping this is a Jim Brown or Bernie Kosar kind of game-changing pick…
Great move. They knew who they wanted and they werent settling for anything less! GO BROWNS!
Roll Browns
or go root for Buffalo! Gilmore at #10?
Great pick. Even after the trade the Browns STILL have pics in the 4th and 5th. I don’t see what’s wrong with giving up late round picks to secure the best offensive skill position player in the draft.
Buffalo love reaching for DBs
Watching Tampa trade down makes me think that Richardson was their guy. After he was off the board, no need to stay up there.
You beat me to it.
Traded your own stuff for tattoos?….NCAA sanctions, head coach fired and suspension of players.
$50,000 watch on a college player?….step right up, your the 10th pick in the draft!
if heckert loved him and he drafted Desean and McCoy in second not trading up for him…oh yeah i am on board
once players declare for the draft, or are out of eligibility, they are no longer under NCAA rule.
bigger surprise…Pete Carroll taking Irvin or only Kalil as OL in the first 18
playing out perfectly for a RT at #22
Keeping it family friendly, in the spirit of WFNY, I suggest that Jim Brown masticate my manhood.
Nevermind. Biggest surprise is the Bears telling Cutler what he can do with himself and ignoring OL. For a DE
This could seriously not bet working any better for us right now…all defensive players being taken.
Wright or Hill has to be there.
Humor…it’s new for 2012!
Browns select Weeden at 22….nuclear meltdown in 4…..3…..2……
and now i’m mad. weeden, really? really?
the draft came to us perfectly and then we take an overrated QB? dangit.
Wow. Hill was on the board and we draft the 28 year old QB. You’ve got to be kidding me.
Look at what New England is doing trade up to get a DE and now trade up to get Hightower. The Browns take Weeden, lol.
mg my man, it’s times like these i understand why Ori is so pessimistic on this regime.
Epic Fail.

Epic Fail.
i hate the Weenie pick, but with all respect, it takes two to tango. maybe browns couldn’t find a dance partner….
AWESOME!!! Now all we need is a 30 year old QB and we’re ready to compete.
effing passed on decastro? who goes to steelers?????
my god.
worried about someone trading up for the weeden are you? WHO?? and if you find a team between 22 and 37 who needs a 29 year old backup… do the browns not have the most draft picks and thus can trump any offer?
christ. this better work out.
I’m glad we traded away picks for no reason to pick the same guy at three that we would have gotten at four. The Browns have the worst front office in the league. I wish Matt Millen was picking for us compared to these pieces of work. I can’t watch this team anymore.
I agree completely. I just don’t get it. I don’t see anyone wanting Weeden even maybe into the 3rd round. Who is going to groom a 30 year old. Everyone else has a starter basically. Decastro was the pick 100%.
Dance partner for what? Pick the BPA! There aren’t other guys we can pick at 22 if we can still get Weeds at 37?
Bye.
It can be wicked frustrating, I’ll give you that. Sometimes I feel like I’m singing the “Nobody knows the trouble I see” song
The scene in Spaceballs where Princess Vespa is singing this song in the prison cell is ecatly how i feel this morning.
