March 5, 2012With the regular season officially over, award season has landed Ohio State with several awards including point guard Aaron Craft being named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.
Big Ten coaches selected Craft as a unanimous member of the 2012 Big Ten All-Defensive Team in addition to being the conference’s 2012 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. Craft is currently No. 12 nationally in steals with 2.4 a game. He has 75 thefts this season, second most all-time in a season a Ohio State. His 148 career steals rates No. 10 all-time.
“I am humbled by this award,” Craft said via school press release. “It is certainly not an individual award. I play my best defense when my teammates are at their best. I know my teammates can rescue me if I get beat. It has been a blessing to achieve this accomplishment and share it with the rest of the guys on our team.”
Craft joins fellow Buckeyes Jared Sullinger, William Buford and Deshaun Thomas as award winners with Sullinger being named First team All-Big Ten.
Ohio State finished the regular season with an overall record of 25-6. The Buckeyes finished league play at 13-5 to share the regular season title with both Michigan State and Michigan.

i love the Buckeyes but I don’t follow their bball team religiously. For this reason – and probably just for a little context – I would appreciate if you mentioned what year Craft is in school. His 148 steals rate him 10th all-time. A very nice achievement for any player, but a greater achievement for a sophomore than a junior or senior. So i guess it just adds context. that’s all.
He’s a Sophomore. And, if I were you, I start following the BB Bucks.as much as you do with FB. They are “usually” a thrill to watch and cheer for.
They are a force to be reckoned with if they are playing like they are capable, but you don’t see it out on the court every time.
