The Best Browns Since 1999 – Defensive Ends
February 20, 2012Welcome Back, Tristan Thompson
February 20, 2012Defensive tackles haven’t been a source of pride in Cleveland, but the Browns have still had some decent players at the spot. The list is top heavy, it seems in that respect.
Current Brown Ahtyba Rubin took the top spot with nearly 1800 first place votes to Shaun Rogers’ roughly 1100. Orpheus Roye came in third with 467 and Phil Taylor, despite having a solid rookie season had only 151.
Outside of those top four we have “Big” Ted Washington who was “Old” Ted Washington by the time he came to Cleveland. He had his 38th and 39th birthdays in Cleveland before retiring.
Gerard Warren was drafted third overall in 2001, but never lived up to that billing. “Big Money” had some moments but wore out his welcome after four seasons and was traded to Denver for a 2005 fourth rounder.
Offensive Line – Left Tackle | Left Guard | Center | Right Guard | Right Tackle
Pass Catchers – Wide Receivers | Tight Ends
Runners – Running Backs | Fullbacks
Defensive Line – Defensive Ends | Defensive Tackles

This category is actually promising. Two of the top three are still on the roster and have not even peaked yet (hopefully).
Phil Taylor is completely underrated. DT is looking good.
Don’t forget that he is but a rookie and we have had some talent at DT in last 6-7 years. Yes our 4 DTs look good. Schaefering and Paxson (the backups) did take out Rapistburger in pittspuke. A top 10 in a dreadful season…
Surprised there’s not as much love for Orpheus Roye. He was the lone bright spot on a lot of bad Browns defenses. I think him and Rubin are on a different level than the rest of the candidates.
Way better list than the WR one…
Of course, the WFNY community’s favorite Browns DT of all time was Jim Kanicki, right boys?
