Revisiting the Eric Mangini Firing

January 9, 2012I take responsibility for most of it – I wasn’t back and the guards were just leaking out behind me.Going forward, I’m just going to review film and see what i can do better, and we have to limit fast break points. We are number one in the league, which is credit to our effort, but they really capitalized on our turnovers tonight.
— Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving, Sunday evening after the team’s 20-point loss to the Portland Trailblazers who scored 28 points off of Cleveland’s 24 turnovers

Portland is my “surprise” pick in the west. They are tall, talented and deep. I figured the Cavaliers would have problems despite the depth they lack enough height. I liked the young guys battling, Irving and Thompson but it’s clear, to me, additional scoring in the form of youth is needed.
I like Irving taking responsibility, but he really nailed it at the end. Far too many turnovers.
I admire Irving saying that but the person who is absolutely killing this team right now Casspi. Dude gets open looks all game and can’t hit anything. Teams are starting to ignore him and cheat in on other players/passing lanes and it’s clogging everything up. Until he proves than these turnover issues will persist.
Irving and Thompson could use some help from their teammates..
