Ohio State Coach Luke Fickell Watches the Inevitable Become Reality
September 19, 2011Contest Time: Win Cleveland Browns Tickets!
September 19, 2011Fresh off yesterday’s victory, Cleveland Browns rookie WR Greg Little took to twitter…
I had a couple thoughts when I read this. First off, I’m glad that maybe this rookie class might get along and want to have a little fun together. Pinkston and Little have been pretty active with fans on twitter since being drafted. You have to imagine they’ve seen Haden and Ward running together, and want the same kind of class camaraderie. That’s fine. Makes sense really.
As for giving themselves a twitter hashtag? Ok. Whatever. I’m not sure exactly who started the Indians’ bullpen mafia twitter sensation, though I think it was given to them by one of the beat writers (Bastian if I remember right). Joe Haden started the DB Swag gang last year, and that was fine too. They’re just having fun on twitter. I get that.
But anyone else find the statement ‘no such thing as rookies no more’ a little off?
You’ve just finished your second NFL game. You caught 4 passes for 38 yards. How about catching a TD pass before announcing you are now a seasoned NFL veteran? How about an 8 catch, 100 yard day?
Jabaal Sheard had a good game rushing the QB, including a sack, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Jason Pinkston has made 2 starts at left guard, and has done an adequate job. Skrine seemed to lose some snaps Sunday to Dimitri Patterson. The most impressive of the Browns rookie class so far as has most certainly been Phil Taylor. But I wouldn’t even suggest that Taylor shouldn’t be called a rookie anymore.
Enjoy the win Greg. Celebrate with your rookie class teammates. But let’s keep things in a little bit of perspective. Go get ready for Miami now.

Whatever, rook. And don’t forget the donuts tomorrow morning…
I see what you’re saying about Little’s numbers Rick but maybe you lack perspective. I mean, for all we know he’s using Owen Marecic’s performance as the baseline for rookie performance. In this case, I’m willing to call them all Pro Bowlers! #bringbackVickers
Ah, the impetuousness of youth. Probably galling to know after just 2 games that you’re already the team’s best receiver but that Robo and MoMass get to haze you.
The continuing saga of Little the Jerk. Things are only going to get a lot worse with this clown.
Who cares? The browns won and he’s trying to use the win as a stepping stone to build some confidence for the rookies. Let him and the rest of the rookies enjoy it and quit knit picking. Be happy we’re 1-1, and have some momentum before we fry some fish next Sunday.
Why’s everyone so negative? a) He’s really not being all that serious, and more importantly b) He’s holding them all to somewhat higher standards, which is fine. If they’re not rookies, then they aren’t supposed to make rookie mistakes. I’m okay with that.
And for what it’s worth, they’re all playing pretty well for rookies.
Straight up Glittle y’all
Who cares? Win games. They can call themselves the new dalai lamas or whatever else they want in twitter land, just keep winning games and it doesn’t matter.
The Bullpen Mafia gave themselves that name, if I recall correctly. I believe Vinnie Pestano spearheaeded the operation.
Much ado about nothing. He’s a young guy that’s excited and hungry. Get on him if he get’s arrested for a DUI or bar fight or literally turns into Braylon Edwards. Until then, I like his enthusiasm, I like his hunger for success, AND I LOVE that he included his teammates.
Don’t take it personal Greg, we’re conditioned to think the worst. Keep your head down and keep catching passes.
oh no, it appears Little has contracted “clevelandfanitis”.
One small taste of victory and the disease of hope and celebration runs wild!
As long as he doesn’t take a swing at Kyrie Irving’s boy outside of a Cleveland nightclub, he’s fine.
Ah, the Dunning-Kruger effect in action.

I will take a WR doing this instead of something off the field. Let’s enjoy this Monday and look toward the Fish Fry on Sunday!
@stin: if he “literally turns into Braylon Edwards” there’s a whole lot more to fear than his tweets.
“You’ve just finished your second NFL game. You caught 4 passes for 38 yards. How about catching a TD pass before announcing you are now a seasoned NFL veteran? How about an 8 catch, 100 yard day?”
Rick, how about waiting until he identifies himself and his bros as “seasoned NFL veterans” and not “young and reckless” before writing something so silly?
I care less about what he proclaims on twitter than his bad body language when he doesn’t get a pass thrown his way on the field (at least twice on Sunday). The kid has skills though, which is good to see.
Also good to see that we are not letting the ‘literally’ running gag die.
Also…
@MrCleaveland – Get over yourself. No, like…really.
The absurdity of that ‘literally’ statement was to offset the absurdity of the post.
sorry. thought you meant it literally.
@4- Seriously dude? Did he sleep with your sister or something.
I don’t have a problem with this tweet. Good to see we might have another good to really good crop of rookies. Love the confidence.
Man, people just want to complain.
@17
We shall see.
Im thinking this is more of a statement that they want to start, they want to be thrown into the middle of it, and they want to be held to a higher standard expected of more seasoned pros. Given the fact that most of them start, its also sort of already true. If that is the context, its not a bad statement, but I do at least see the reason for concern. Im not saying Little is, or will ever turn into Braylon (God I hope not), but didnt Braylon start off doing some smaller, self-absorbed, attention-grabbing things before he devolved?
For all we know, it was a consensus between all the rookies and G-Little had the biggest base of followers to let everyone know. The real concern is if we’re going to have too many hashtag groups to fit in 140 characters come week 14…
Twitter strikes again…what did Little do yesterday? Only thing worse was watching the Dallas WR carry on after his OT catch that nearly went for a game winning TD. I haven’t seen acting like it since I flipped past the religion channel and watched people flail around after having hands laid upon them.
Do we really have so little going on that we need to worry about things like this? Maybe we can take a step back from the outrage ledge and calm down.
Coupla’ guys with character issues from college nicknaming themselves “young and reckless.”
What could go wrong?
If the worst thing we have to complain about is what our starting rookies Tweet on Twitter to Twits… well, we must have had a good week!
@The Other Tim
Comment of the day, kudos sir.
@23: I think you mean consumptuous.
@29. Really? Its a sport comment… I think Little has alot of potential with the Browns. I cant believe that people are given him crap over a stupid tweet. Remember Adams this year? Always talking in 3rd person… Atleast Little mentioned his teammates.
Newsflash! Someone said something silly on Twitter!
30 comments (now 31).
What did we ever do without Twitter?
Reason #712 I quit posting nd just read the articles. Calm down people. #takeachillpill
Did anyone else notice those rookies included vs. those omitted from this “youngandreckless” group? Why are only african american rookies part of the group?
Rd 1 – Phil Taylor – included
Rd 2 – Jabaal Sheard – included
Rd 2 – Greg Little – included
Rd 4 – Jordan Cameron – omitted
Rd 4 – Owen Marecic – omitted
Rd 5 – Buster Skrine – included
Rd 5 – Jason Pinkston – included
Rd 7 – Eric Hagg – omitted
Not saying it’s intentional, but that jumped out at me as quite odd that’s it’s THAT distinctly divided….
Maybe he just means the white draft picks are still allowed to be considered rookies *shakes head*.
@30: Yes, really. …for no other reason (or good reason) except it was there for me to poke at. Although I’m not sure I follow your criticism of my jab. I’m not referring to the tweet.
