NFL Free Agency: Who Should the Browns Bring Back?
July 20, 2011The Evolution of Sports Fans and The Future
July 20, 2011Another great night at Canal Park, thanks to our hosts the Aeros and some terrific company! The Aeros won 6-0 as Matt Packer shut down the Altoona line-up. The big blow for Akron was a Beau Mills 3-run home run. But as always, the game was somewhat secondary to the company for this one.
Our own Jon Steiner throwing out a ceremonial first pitch. Rumor is it bounced in front of home plate. That beeping noise is me backing the bus over Jon.
Another good crowd this year. Somewhere around 30 WFNY writers, readers and friends were on hand. I see Summit Omar, Robbie, Titus, Craig…
And of course Peter from Cleveland Frowns. As well as…
Vince from Cleveland Scene. Both have been to all 3 Aeros game nights. (And by the way Aeros, we are now 3-0 on WFNY night. Just sayin.)
Omar’s been with us since the start as well. He decided to try the ‘Nice to Meat you’ burger. He finished it too. I was impressed.
Forget the first pitch, next year we’re going for Scott vs Pete in the sumo suits!
A WFNY outing first! Foul Ball caught and delivered to a beautiful young fan! (Yep, that’s my daughter!)
Visual proof there was actual baseball being played.
Of course it wouldn’t be the Aeros game get together without Pete doing the YMCA headstand during the 7th inning stretch. On the dugout.
Another great fish-eye shot from Jon Cole. Have I mentioned he’s a stud photographer before?
WFNY Jon. Should have made him do a running diary post from the evening.
Thanks to all who came. You make the evening worth doing! Check out Jon’s work at Envisioned Memories. If you need a photographer, he’s the best.

Props to Jon for taking it from the rubber. And as I told Rick, Vlad would’ve swung.
Oh My Lord…That picture of Pete doing the Y in YMCA on the dugout is the stuff of legend…sorry i couldnt be there last night!
What else could those people be possibly looking at in the pic of Peter doing the YMCA?
Good question Brendon, there were Aeros staffers on the dugout dancing as well.
Excellent time. Thanks for setting this up.
holy mother of GOD!! in the omar pic, … check out the apparatus in frowns’ hands! that is some technology son! ~5 trillion pixel capable, i’d reckon.
and rick–> she’s adorable!
I’d have easily taken the bets from anyone that didn’t think Omar would finish that burger.
She is super adorable.
Great pics. Great time, as always. Thanks for setting it up again.
The dugout thing was really touch and go this year. Our seats were far from the dugout and the security guy was right there, but given how disappointed the kids would have been the attempt had to be made. As it turns out, Aeros security knows a safe headstand when they see it. Freedom, fun and tradition, too.
It was a great time, and our first visit to Canal Park. The family and I had a great time. Thanks to WFNY for setting it all up. Next time, I’m going for the Italian Nachos, which are topped with mozzarella, marinnara, sausage, pepperoni, onions and pepper!
Looks like fun. Y’all should do something in NYC sometime! 🙂
Great pics, cute kid. Why does the place look so empty besides the WFNY crowd? I’d think it’s a beautiful night for a cheap game!
@Frowns: little confused. Do you “Y”, collapse during “MCA” and then reboot?
You must not yet have teenaged kids, or they would have done anything to block your dugout access.
That’s one way to describe it, Harv, though I’m able to point the knees up for M, move the feet to the side for C then bring them together up top for A. Last night’s wasn’t the sharpest performance.
Yeah, no kids at all for me yet and agreed that the tradition might have to be retired one day.
Thanks for the compliments on WFNYRachel. She’s a keeper.
Check out Frowns’ site for more pics. That new-fangled camera phone of his is going to triple his traffic on Frownie Fotos posts. http://www.clevelandfrowns.com/2011/07/frownie-fotos-canal-park/
And Pete, don’t let anyone tear down your YMCA performance, I’d like to see anyone else make a C with their legs, while standing on their head.
Had a great time as always! Thanks for setting it up. ClemJax even I wasn’t sure I could finish it. The burger has I think 2 one pound patties around two hot dogs topped with bacon, cheese, and onion. It was delicious, just difficult to hold and eat with one hand. To those that read more often than post I highly recommend going to these functions not only is it fun to pull back the curtain on the wizards behind WFNY, the guys are really genuine and fun. Besides where else can you get into a discussion of the ill fated career of one Jeremiah Pharms, right Craig?
could craig have worn anymore chief wahoo gear?
and did it get the sought after response?
Nothing made me happier then clicking on WFNY and seeing a picture of Mr. Coyle.
