Dan Patrick Attacks ESPN’s LeBron Credibility, Gilbert’s Tweet
June 13, 2011While We’re Waiting… Zydrunas Watches, Hannahan Chills, and No Love for LeBron
June 14, 2011As the Indians struggle, Manny Acta has decided not to sit idly by. It might or might not work, but he will try to move the pieces into different spots to hopefully find a better combination that strikes the right harmonic chord for run production.
Sizemore-DH
Santana-1B
Brantley-CF
A.Cabrera-SS
Choo-RF
Buck-LF
Phelps-2B
Hannahan-3B
Marson-C
Carrasco takes the mound for the Tribe. Thumbs up or thumbs down on the lineup experimentation?

well, I don’t think it’ll make us play worse.
that said, wasn’t it Acta that said he can’t just throw out a new lineup after every loss?
How about nearly a month’s worth of losses? 🙂
Not bad but I still think LaPorta should be in there as DH, and therefore the OF goes to it’s normal alignment.
sweet sweet no Kearns in the lineup!
My 7 year old tagged a sweet line drive in his last at-bat in his little league “tournament.” He was still out, because he runs slower than pond water, but I think I might put him in the Indians line-up at this point. Certainly couldn’t HURT the run production.
Carrasco should hit
Stinkfist’s comment made me think, just out of complete curiosity, Are pitchers allowed to bat in the AL if the manager wants them to?
I like it… so far, Carlos Santana is an OBP machine who likes to hit fastballs. Put him in front of a 2 guys who can hit anything, and maybe something happens.
yes they are. you can DH for anyone, except pitchers always suck at hitting. you dont even need to use a DH if you dont want to
@7 Yes, you can sacrifice the DH position and have the pitcher bat. The Indians did it by mistake in a game one time. I think it was Nagy that had to bat. Of course, maybe the rule has changed since then.
I think we can all agree that this is not the line up of a playoff team
@Chucky – why not? we still reside in the AL Central
That’s quite a drastic lineup change.
Personally, I don’t like taking out the 15 year veteran with a lifetime BA of 273 for Corey Phelps who may be a good offense of presence in time, but right out the door? I’m more unsure about the latter. I think we should go conservative for now and keep the lineup UNTILL Hafner gets back. I think he’s the spark to the offense that people have forgotten about. If he doesn’t provide a spark to this offense, then I think Acta should press the ‘Boggle’ button till (or if) he finds something that works.
I was hoping Acta had found a way to transport the great lineup from 1995 to the present day because right now that’s the only way they can put some runs on the board. Let’s hope Carrasco can duplicate his last performance tonight because one run may be all he gets.
I was on the “Grady shouldnt hit leadoff” bandwagon, but this offense was at its best and so was Grady when he was hitting leadoff.
If Grady starts hitting others will follow suit, whatever it takes to get Sizemore going. If there is anyone who can carry this team offensively in between Hafner’s trips to the DL its him.
Also like Santana hitting 2nd with all the walks he gets. Why not? I like this, Manny recognizes that desperate times call for desperate measures. Time to shake things up.
They need to add a consistent big bat in the middle of that order. if they are serious about contending this season, they need to get consistent offense. Another starter may be needed if they dont htink any of the AAA options can be used for depth.
I like it. Hard to polish up that bottom half though.
I know it’s splitting mighty thin hairs, but I’d bat Hanhahan last
(not Marson) because Hannahan actually seems to get some hits when nobody else is, and he’d get us to top of the lineup. (If a .230 hitter can be clutch, I’d say that’s Hannahan.) IF Sizemore ever hits again (swings at pitches over the plate and doesn’t at pitches that are ridiculously way off) the top of the lineup would be OK because at least Santana walks a lot and Brantley and Astrubral–well, they’re the franchise at this point.
From Choo on down, it’s like you when have to chose between Bud Light, Coors, and those fruity beer drinks because all the decent beers have already been taken. Like who cares? I can’t believe how depressed I’ve become over this. But if they’d win a few…
Reminds me of the year Dave Garcia (I think) literally pulled the lineup out of a hat when the Tribe was struggling. Seem to remember that Gormon Thomas lead-off maybe.
Anyway … Go Tribe!
Billy Martin famously did that too.
Then he got drunk and fought a marshmallow salesman.
I guess we just gotta win every game 1-0 😀
Pure Rage should be batting cleanup
Thumbs up.
