Christian Skyenga steadily climbing the ladder of Cavalier all-time points leaders. Up to #231 already- “Despite all that the Cavaliers lost again and Skyenga will have to wait a few more days for his first career W. On the glass is half full side, he passed four more ex-Cavaliers and it now sitting pretty at 231st all-time.” [Wooley/Stepien Rules]

Victor Martinez getting advice from Travis Hafner? “As Victor Martinez prepares to spend more time at designated hitter, he can look back on advice he once received from former teammate Travis Hafner, who has been among baseball’s best at that specialized role. “He told me that you have to do a lot. Maybe people think that it’s easy to be a DH. It’s hard,” Martinez said. “You have to keep warm. You’ve got to go into the weight room and run the bike and do stuff, stretch yourself. You can’t just sit there for a half an hour, an hour, until you get at bat again and just go out there and hit. It’s not like that.” [Trister/Yahoo]

Not to continue to bore you with history as I’m sure you’re aware of all of this, stay with me here and take a look at what happened after the Indians started anew in the early-to-mid-2000s, after the roster had been purged and the majority of high priced “talent” found themselves elsewhere. Remember that whole idea that the optimistic view of the 2011 season would be to duplicate the performance of the 2004 team (80-82), with certain young players stepping forward with significant production?” [Cousineau/The DiaTribe]

…”among baseball’s best at that specialized role” seems like a bit of a stretch.
@ Boqueesha — If the specialized role he is referring to is “sucking down a huge contract while producing almost nothing given the fact that he is a DH but not a very good hitter on a team that really needs SOMETHING/SOMEONE to step up and produce” then yes, he is perhaps the best ever.
Re Skyenga: yawn. Wake me when he passes Derrick Chevious.
I’m blown away that Rick just used “dirty sanchez” in a headline. That’s amazing.
I love it. I’m not sure he knows what it means, though. Isn’t this a family site? 😀
