He’ll always be “Coach,” but… “Because Mike Holmgren admitted he’ll feel “antsy” not coaching this season, some assume that means he can’t wait to take over with the Browns. But the team president was simply telling the truth at his recent news conference — he is a career coach, and part of him will miss it.
That doesn’t mean he’s waiting for coach Eric Mangini to fail. If Holmgren truly wanted to coach this season, he could have had the job. Owner Randy Lerner was desperate, willing to give Holmgren any title that the former Green Bay and Seattle coach wanted. Lerner’s plea was … just come save the Browns. At 61, Holmgren sees himself in the mode of Bill Parcells, a great coach who now can work on building an organization.” [Terry Pluto]

“In 31 total starts, 21 coming this season, [Justin] Masterson really has not accomplished anything to inspire confidence in his abilities as a starting pitcher. However, due to lack of major league quality depth in the area, he has continued to be trotted out there every 5th day. Well, times-are-changing in Wahoo Land and it might be time for Manny Acta and Mark Shapiro to re-evaluate where they use Masterson.” [Lake Erie Soldiers]

Position semantics: “[Peyton] Hillis caught a 40-yard pass from Seneca Wallace on a third down play, and later had a 30-yard reception coming on a short pass that he ran for yards after the catch on. Maybe the Browns can be known for having the best receiving team in the league for players who aren’t labeled as “wide receivers.” [Dawgs by Nature]

And finally, trading for Jake Westbrook when in the hunt for Roy Oswalt and Dan Haren? Not deemed exactly a trade deadline “win.” [Big League Stew]

I dont want to see Holmgren coach. It’s not (I don’t think) what we hired him to do. I want him to be the best [expletive deleted] team president in the league.
That is all.
would love to see us throwing to our backs. they’re one of the strong points on the team, lets use them as much as possible.
You’re welcome … now if only I could have gotten a picture of the guy with the Nat Dorsey jersey.
Receivers who aren’t listed as such and Runners who aren’t listed as such. So is the deception of the Browns!
