That’s More Like It, Fausto
March 23, 2010The 5-Hole: Blue Jackets News and Notes – 3/23/10
March 23, 2010Let’s hope that the same headline can be used for the Cavaliers come early summer. Today we are pleased to say that along with your help, our own Scott Sargent is one of two finalists in the Blog Sports Ohio contest. I want to add my thank you for those that helped get Scott to this point- but I also want to ask for your help to get him over the top.
Let me take a second to say something about Scott. This contest was designed to find the best sports blogger in Ohio. Now I know that not every blogger entered this contest. In fact, only 3 of the 9 writers from this site entered. There were 75 entries according to FSO’s website. There are a lot of really great bloggers out there covering the Ohio scene. I would put Scott up there with any of them- and here’s why. Scott is consistent. He brings you the news and links you want everyday. He doesn’t try to cram opinion down your throat, but gives you an angle or a side you perhaps haven’t seen before and then backs away and lets you come to your own conclusion. He creates conversations here on the site. And he does it every week day. You need your While We’re Waiting in the morning. We all do. It’s like our morning coffee or newspaper. Someone else might write a better piece occasionally, but Scott is bringing the mail everyday. He’s Mark Price at the free throw line- not flashy but you know it’s gonna be good!
So here’s the deal. We need you. This contest ends Thursday at midnight. That gives us about 60 hours to vote. I know that many of you have been voting, and perhaps you are getting a little tired of this contest. I assure you that you could not possibly be more tired of voting than us, and believe me when I say we HATE having to throw ourselves out there and ask for you to vote over and over.
Since our inception in January of 2008 we have tried to create the best Cleveland-centric sports site out there. We’ve done some things differently then the rest. We’ve fought to maintain a family-friendly nature. We’ve used whatever revenue we’ve generated to bring you great prizes and contests. All along you have been great, and we trust that will continue.
So I’m asking you to do two things for us. One- vote often. FSO has encouraged you to vote as often as you like since this process started. It isn’t sneaky or underhanded. It is the game they set up. Two- use the comment section on Scott’s blog at FSO to discuss his pieces.
Thanks for the support gang. It means a lot to all of us here at WFNY. This is the championship YOU can help a Clevelander win!!!

Congrats, Scott. The Windy City Wahoo will do his part to bring victory to WFNY!
Ok you wore me down I’ll cast a vote for you but I hope FSNOhio did away with that being able to vote multiple times shamockery! Good luck.
Thank you for the kind words, Rick.
Nicely done Scott, but now you’re making me choose between you and Jeff Seemann (a.k.a. Jeff at the BBC), who in addition to being a fellow Canton native, is also one of my favorite writers. Not fair.
Let the best man win.
Two things.
First, I echo Rick’s sentiments about Scott: nobody doesn’t like Scott Sargent (or Sara Lee).
Second, the voting format is easier than it was before.
@DJ…does Jeff even write at the BBC anymore? I thought I heard somewhere that he is no longer a writer for that site
I like how they make you click on the dropdown to select “Sargent” even though alphabetically it’s before “Seemann”.
congrats scott, and i’m glad to see the pens fan didn’t make the final cut
@6: He hasn’t written much at tBBC in awhile, though he has been a contributor to FearTheSword in the last month. He’s been primarily a OSU guy, but hasn’t been as prolific since the site moved to SBN.
Guess that answers who I should vote for, huh? Scott, you haven’t taken much (if any) time off from your CSM days to now…you get my votes!
@DJ – Jeff isn’t even listed as an author/contributor anymore on the BBC site…sort of interesting…
Seemann isn’t writing at the BBC anymore. Peter Bean made a post over there about a week ago detailing things somewhat.
DJ, thanks! I hired a basketball writer over there, so I let him have all the fun with Buckeye shooty-hoops.
Scott, good luck and I’ll see you tomorrow night at FSOhio.
Denny, I’m the owner of The BBC. After the NCAA Tourney ends, I’m taking my site back to it’s original servers. It’s all good.
Best of luck everyone!
Gotcha Jeff – sorry about the confusion.
Cheers, and good luck.
No problem, Denny. You da man.
Hey I got 647 votes!
Haha good luck Scott and Jeff, you deserve it.
And I meant congratulations, not good luck.
But good luck to you as well.
